Erigon Client joins Polygon CDK

Gateway, one of the top blockchain infrastructure providers, has released cdk-erigon, a new execution client for the Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK), an open-source toolkit for establishing zk-powered Layer 2 chains for Ethereum.

Infrastructure providers can now be Polygon CDK chains with a choice of EVM clients owing to its association with cdk-erigon, which adds the lightning-fast and incredibly efficient Erigon node to Polygon CDK. Erigon and cdk-erigon are both known for memory optimization. CDK-Erigon uses 10 times less disk space and has +150 times faster mainnet sync times than the zkNode on Polygon CDK.

With the addition of cdk-erigon as another execution client utilizing Polygon CDK, in addition to zkNode, the industry now has the first multi-cleint zkEVM tech stack. In addition, starting early in the forthcoming year, cdk-erigon will join the Polygon zkEVM Mainnet Beta as an RPC node.

The Ethereum Foundation’s primary Erigon developers are members of the Gateway team, one of the leading providers of web3 infrastructure. Gateway will speed the development of high-performance clients for Polygon CDK as platform contributors, hence benefiting the entire Polygon ecosystem.

Polygon Labs’ CTO and co-founder David Schwartz expressed his delight that Gateway has joined the Polygon CDK community and that Polygon CDK may now be used with the industry-leading Erigon technology. Because of the ZK-powered Ethereum Layer 2 software that has been combat-proven on Ethereum, anyone can now simply install a blockchain with best-in-class performance and efficiency with the help of Erigon.

Polygon CDK is already being used and tested by several projects, including OKX, Gnosis Pay, Immutable, Astar, Canto, Palm Network, and IDEX. Chains deployed using Polygon CDK may be unified and compatible in the future across a broader network of ZK-powered L2s in the Polygon CDK ecosystem.
