- The CEO of Twitter took another big step towards the company’s day off.
According to the recent Bloomberg report, published on November 03, 2022, Elon Musk has eliminated “days of rest,” for the Twitter employees.
Jack Dorsey’s Implemented “Days of Rest”
It can be seen that the “days of rest” were first introduced by the ex-CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey in 2020. It was the time when the COVID-19 pandemic was at its peak, so at that time Mr. Dorsey introduced “days of rest” to avoid burnout and let the employees take rest a day in a week with no meetings and work. Here, burnout is a state of physical or emotional exhaustion that further has a sense of reduced accomplishment and loss of self-identity.
Mr. Dorsey said at that time the Twitter employees will work remotely forever. Following his foot-steps, the other major corporations like JPMorgan, Facebook (Meta,) Capital One, Amazon, Microsoft, and Zillow further announced the extension in their work-from-home policies.
Jack Dorsey in May 2020 also announced that the employees of Square (Block, Mobile Payment Firm) would permanently become remote workers. It must be noted that Twitter was the first company who allowed its employees to work remotely.
But, most recently the new Twitter CEO, has announced that he is eliminating the “days of rest,” and if anyone has issue with this then they can leave the organisation, as per the Bloomberg report.
Elon Musk’s Work Affection
Elon Musk shared about his journey, as he has worked for 120 hours a week and also slept on Tesla’s factory floor to complete his targets. While in June of this year he did the same with Tesla’s staff. He openly ordered the staff to work on his projects and work for almost 24×7 all around the globe and finish his project work.
The new step by Elon Musk seems a bad-play for the company’s employees’ career.
At present, the non-fungible token (NFT) of Jack Dorsey’s first tweet dropped by $2.9 Million to just $97. This massive drop in its price is due to the fall of NFTs, and the crypto winter.
And recently, when Elon Musk took over the control of Twitter, the ex-CEO announced about his social app, Bluesky, looking for beta testers. In the Bluesky’s blog post published on October 18, 2022, it added about the initialization of the testing sequence to start testing the protocol. As distributed protocol development is tricky that’s why it needs coordination from many parties. Thus, the Bluesky team is going to start in private beta to settle the issue.
Additionally, Mr. Dorsey also tweeted that Bluesky aims to be “a competitor to any company.”
