Elon Musk Congratulates His Neuralink Team for FDA’s Approval

Recently, Elon Musk shared news about his brain-chip company, Neuralink Corporation, which got approval from the U.S. Food and Drugs Administration (FDA). This approval will allow the company to do its first-ever tests on humans. On May 26th, Neuralink shared about the same which they mentioned as “the company received the FDA’s approval to launch its first-in-human clinical study.”

Neuralink also shares that this is the result of incredible work by its team having a close collaboration with the FDA. It also represents an important step that will one day allow its technology to help more people. Notably, the recruitment is not yet open for its clinical trial, as Neuralink further added. The company will soon announce more information about its tests.

The approval by FDA comes as the U.S. legislators urged regulators earlier this month. The regulators want to investigate whether the makeup of a panel overseeing animal testing at Neuralink “contributed to botched and rushed experiments.” However, this further clarifies that the company has already been the subject of the federal investigation.

The Neuralink Implant Company of Elon Musk

The company works in creating a generalized brain interface to restore autonomy to those having medical needs. Elon Musk co-founded Neuralink in 2016, which has an initial aim to start planting chips in human brains, in 2020. This was in order to honor a pledge made the year before. However, this later vowed to get started in the previous year, as BBC reported.

Further as CNBC reported, the company previously has also come under fire from activist groups for its alleged treatment of animals. The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine continuously called on Elon Musk to share the details about the experiments on monkeys that resulted in internal bleeding, paralysis, chronic infection, seizure, declining psychological health and death.

Back in April this year, Neuralink shared that they want to surpass able-bodied human performance with their technology. As the company added, “using only his mind, a precision cursor control from Pager (star of Monkey MindPong) achieved 65% and 88% of the median Neuralinker using a mouse.”

The Other Developments by Neuralink

According to Neuralink, the surgical robots of the company are using advanced imaging systems. With the help of this, the robots can detect the brain and insert threads away from blood vessels.

Some similar companies, such as Blackrock Neurotech and Synchron have also implanted their devices in people for clinical trials. Nearly 42 people globally have had brain-computer implants.

Elon Musk can’t stop himself from providing his tech-support for the world. With developing technologies, Musk engages his multiple companies to lead the tech-world.

In the same manner, his Neuralink was finally approved for testing on humans. The  envisioned brain implants could cure a range of conditions, such as obesity, autism, depression, and schizophrenia. However, the company previously faced issues for its experiments on animals.
