Hackers have taken over the crypto weekend and taken Eigenlaye as their current score. Renowned crypto sleuth – ZachXBT has posted a cautionary trade tale on his Telegram channel, asking users to be careful. ZachXBT reports that “Eigenlayer X/Twitter account is currently compromised do not click any links.”

Before this hack, EigenLayer had been doing well, having accumulated approximately $20 billion in user deposits, and its parent company received $100 million in investment from a16z.
The hacker has yet to be identified. However, they have taken over the platform’s official X account to promote EIGEN tokens.
The hacker says, “Now that we are transitioning into Programmatic incentives, the remaining EIGEN supply for Season 2 has been redistributed.”
They have split the promotion into phases. Phase 2 favors participants who were ‘eligible for the Season 2 Stakedrop.’ This is, of course, a hoax and fake investment endeavor.
The hack promoters have targetted “DeFi adventurers who engaged with Kelp, Pendle, Equilibrium, and other protocols before Sep 16th [and] Anyone who directly restaked ETH or LSTs on EigenLayer before Sep 16th.”
As per the hacker(s), the “Reallocated EIGEN tokens will expire and must be claimed by 11:59 pm PST on October 19th, 2024.” A fake bonus also says, “All Season 1 users will receive the 100 EIGEN bonus.”
The deal sounds too good. Don’t click any link in your email or X. Otherwise, you are about to have a bad weekend marred with financial losses.
