Edward Snowden Joins Satoshi Nakamoto Debate

  • Edward Snowden has responded to Craig Wright’s claim that he invented Bitcoin with accusations that Wright is lying

  • Snowden called Wright “traitorous scum” before insisting that he is the creator of Bitcoin

Famous whistleblower and ex-NSA contractor Edward Snowden clapped back on Monday after Wright accused Snowden of being a traitor.

The intelligence expert said that Wright has been dishonest and is lying about being the creator of Bitcoin. In honor of Bitcoin’s 14th birthday, Snowden posted a copy of the whitepaper on Twitter, which sparked the conflict.

Snowden Calls Out Wright

Snowden said that it is “remarkable” that its creator remains anonymous after all of that time.

Minutes later, Craig Wright responded to this comment by claiming that “he” was never anonymous and referring to Snowden as traitorous scum.

After about an hour, Snowden retaliated by tweeting about Wright’s defeat in court to the well-known Bitcoiner “Hodlonaut.”

The case, which came to an end earlier this month, proved that Hodlonaut’s claims that Wright was a “scammer” and a “fraud” were not defamatory because they had sufficient factual ground to assert that. Snowden then criticized Wright for his inconsistent claim that he was never anonymous.

He presented an earlier note from the computer scientist in which Wright claimed to have lived for years “anonymously and hiding” as Satoshi.

Wright Nearing the End of His Libel Campaign

The man cannot even properly commit fraud. Simply embarrassing,” Snowden concluded.

Snowden says that Bitcoin’s layer-2 lightning network has made it possible for transactions to be made basically instantaneously.

Snowden is a big fan of Bitcoin. He has, however, complained that the base layer protocol lacks privacy. Wright is nearing the end of his legal campaign against people he believed had defamed him.

He has won a small £1 case against Peter McCormack, but the judge has called him out for lying, and he has lost a case against Hodlonaut in Norway and let all the other cases go.

To make his three-and-a-half-year effort worthwhile, he has one more shot against Hodlonaut in the UK.
