Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramírez will star in the second season of Peacock’s anthology series Dr. Death.
The versatile actor and two-time Emmy nominee for his title roles in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story and Carlos, will play surgeon Paolo Macchiarini, whose innovative organ transplants have seduced the global medical community, earning him the nickname “Miracle Man.” But when his fiancé and some suspicious colleagues launch investigations into his botched surgeries, cracks start to appear in Paolo’s charming persona, showing how far he’s willing to go to protect his secrets.
Ramirez, who has starred in a myriad of films during his career, including the 2021’s Jungle Cruise and Netflix’s Yes Day, as well as roles in The Bourne Ultimatum and Zero Dark Thirty, will also be the lead in the upcoming Netflix series Florida Man.
Season 2, from showrunner, writer and executive producer Ashley Michel Hoban (Dr. Death S1, The Girl from Plainville), will feature the “Miracle Man” storyline based on the most recent third season of the hit Wondery podcast.
Season one’s showrunner, executive producer and writer Patrick Macmanus (The Girl from Plainville) will executive produce the new season, via his Littleton Road Productions banner, under his overall deal with UCP.
Other executive producers include Hernán López, the founder of Wondery, which was acquired by Amazon last year.
