Drake Scores His First Hit On A Chart He’s Never Seen Before

At this point, there aren’t many charts left in the music world where Drake hasn’t scored a hit. He has tried his hand at multiple genres and collaborated with a wide range of artists throughout the years, seemingly landing at least once on almost every available ranking. The Canadian rapper just added another tally to his résumé with a new achievement in the United Kingdom, though he doesn’t reach the roster with a brand new offering.

Drake scores his first success on one of the U.K. album rankings with his latest full-length, which becomes a bestseller on a specific format – one which hasn’t been huge for the rapper in the past.

Some Sexy Songs 4 You Becomes a Bestseller

Drake’s recent collaborative full-length with PartyNextDoor, Some Sexy Songs 4 You, debuts on a pair of U.K. charts this week. The project launches at No. 20 on the Official Vinyl Albums list and at No. 42 on the Official Physical Albums tally.

While Drake has appeared on the ranking of the top-selling titles on all physical formats before — seven of his previous releases have landed on the tally — this latest arrival marks his first time claiming one of the bestselling vinyl albums in the country. Amazingly, despite having one of the strongest back catalogs in recorded music history, he has never sold enough copies of any previous project on vinyl in a single week in the U.K. to appear on this particular list.

Drake’s Valentine’s Day Drop

Drake and PartyNextDoor released Some Sexy Songs 4 You on February 14, Valentine’s Day. The title became available on CD a few days later, but it wasn’t until May 9 that the LP shipped.

Thanks to an uptick in pure purchases, Some Sexy Songs 4 You also returns to two other rosters in the U.K. It breaks back onto the Official Albums Sales chart at No. 48, which now stands as a new all-time peak for the title.

A Near-No. 1 Return for Drake

Some Sexy Songs 4 You just narrowly misses the summit on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums chart, coming in at No. 2. At the same time, it lifts to the exact midpoint of the Official Albums ranking at No. 50 and drops only slightly on the Official Albums Streaming list, where it descends to No. 51.
