Billy Markus, the co-founder of Dogecoin, has criticized the metaverse project of Shiba Inu, its biggest competitor.
Markus enjoys great dominance on Twitter because of his timely interactions with Tesla CEO and crypto enthusiast; he claims that the sale of fake land along with Ethereum is not going to improve the cryptocurrency’s utility.
Shiba Inu has disclosed the details regarding its metaverse project, originally launched in early February. Over 10,000 land will be up for sale during the initial stage of the rollout.
The team further shares that since Ethereum is a neutral cryptocurrency, they chose it for pricing.
The Dogecoin co-founder also warned that securities regulators might take issue with the Shiba Inu team’s plan to allow landowners to earn passive income.
Meanwhile, Markus calls ShibaInu’s Metaverse project “a cash grab for developers who wish to make even more money.” He forecasts that the team can raise only around $300 million by selling fake land. Markus also warns that there are high chances that securities regulators may take the Shiba Inu team’s plan to allow landowners to earn passive income.
Marcus, taking a dig at its biggest competitor, says that it makes him salty to watch “scammers” making millions using crypto in a follow-up thread.
Last October, Shiba Inu, popularly called the “Dogecoin Killer” among certain crypto circles, surpassed the market cap of Dogecoin.
Previously, Marcus has accused the Shiba Inu community of harassment and has urged the community members to leave him alone after receiving spam messages from them. The Dogecoin co-founder has cleared in many instances that he has nothing to do with Shiba Inu.
Cryptocurrency analyst Alex Krüger Calls Metaverse Overrated
On the other hand, Alex Krüger, cryptocurrency analyst, says the metaverse land is actually overrated and overpriced since it can be produced infinitely.
According to him, the investors should make use of mental models for calculating the value of virtual land.
