Disrespectful Pedri-Mocking Celebration From Manchester United’s Garnacho Angers FC Barcelona Fans

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has enraged FC Barcelona fans for mocking their midfielder Pedri after the Catalans were knocked out of the Europa League playoffs on Thursday.

Second half goals from Brazilian duo Fred and Antony meant that the Red Devils won 2-1 on the night at Old Trafford and 4-3 on aggregate.

Barca were dominant with a makeshift midfield in the first half, but were then swamped in the match’s second 45 minute instalment.

They clearly missed a suspended Gavi and injured Pedri, who was mocked by Argentine Garnacho at the full-time whistle.

As captured on camera, Garnacho decided to mark the win by using Pedri’s goal celebration.

It sees the Spain international make glasses and hold them up to his eyes, in homage to his bespectacled, die hard Barca fan father back on the island of Tenerife.

Garnacho also said: “The big team advanced to the next round,” on Instagram, and has raised the ire of Culers worldwide for making fun of a man who was not there to defend his club’s honor and is one of the most respectful, least provocative figures in the sport.

“That Alejandro Garnacho makes fun of Pedri after eliminating Barca shows his level of envy and immaturity,” said one popular Twitter account.

“How important it is to know how to win, and even more so when you try to make fun of a player whose boot soles you don’t even reach.”

“Garnacho does more off the field and on Instagram than as a player, we know how those [types] end up,” commented a follower.

“It’s not for nothing that Garnacho’s idol is CR7 (Cristiano Ronaldo) and that of Pedri [Andres] Iniesta and [Lionel] Messi,” remarked another.

Garnacho was additionally called a “clown” and “immature”. “If this player were on my team, I would be embarrassed,” it was also said.

As Barca lick their wounds from another catastrophic failure on the continent, many of their fans will be hoping for United’s downfall in the last 16 or elsewhere in the competition so that they can return the favor to Garnacho by mocking the teenager.
