It is noteworthy that with this year’s contribution, Dillard’s has contributed more than $15.6 million to support local Ronald McDonald House programs. Dillard’s senior vice president Denise Mahaffy said: “Over the past 28 years Dillard’s has developed a strong bond with RMHC in our communities. The work they do every day to bring comfort to children and families impress us and makes the sale of the cookbooks an enormous source of pride and satisfaction.”
Every year RMHC serves families with children who are ill with serious diseases such as cancer, injured or hospitalized and in need of RMHC resources. The programs reduce stress and financial burden when families travel from homes to access medical care for their sick child. At Ronald McDonald House, families can stay together, rest, interact with families going through similar experiences, enjoy home cooked meals – all just minutes from the hospital.
“At RMHC, enabling family-centered care is at the heart of our mission” said Joanna Sabato, chief Marketing and Development Officer at RHMC Global. “We are incredibly grateful for Dillard’s generous donation and commitment to support our mission to keep families and children who are sick together.”

There are several RMHCs in the New York area. At one hospital, over 1,000 children were treated for cancer in one year. Parents were able to live nearby to help sustain their spirit. The home in Manhattan is on East 73rd Street, near some of the major hospitals in New York City. Since 1979 this institution helped an amazing 59,000 families. The New York RMHC can accommodate 95 families including 6 post-transplant suites.
RHMC was founded in Philadelphia in 1974 and the focus has always been to help families with pediatric illnesses.
POSTSCRIPT: RMHC is an amazing organization. By keeping families together during pediatric illnesses helps the patient. They pull through, since they want to be with their family. Dillard’s long-term commitment must be applauded and encouraged.
