Smith-Germain
On Saturday at the Canon Medical Arena in Sheffield, England, the undefeated Dalton Smith will continue his quest toward a world title when he faces veteran Mathieu Germain.
The super lightweight clash will headline an April 19 card on a busy boxing day for DAZN. Here is a look at the complete card and information on how you can watch the card.
- Dalton Smith vs. Mathieu Germain – Super Lightweight
- Ryan Kelly vs. Caoimhin Agyarko – Super Welterweight
- Josh Warrington vs. Asad Asif Khan – Super Featherweight
- Josh Padley vs. Marko Cvetanovic – Lightweight
Smith is one of the most promising stars in the United Kingdom with his unblemished record and flair for the spectacular KO. In his last fight, he stopped Walid Ouizza in the first round. Smith scored a buzzer-beater KO win with a left hook that dropped Ouizza for the second time in the opening frame.
Ouizza’s corner threw in the towel, protecting their fighter from more punishment in the second round. Here is a look at the finish.
One question is: will Germain do much better against Smith? The answer is probably no. Germain is a respectable 26-2-1 in his career, but he has only 11 stoppages in his career. He’s also been stopped in both of his losses.
Those defeats came to Uriel Perez and Yves Ulysse Jr. in 2019 and 2020, respectively. Another potential issue for Germain is that Saturday’s fight against Smith will mark the first time he’s fought professionally outside of his native Canada.

We’ll see if the main event turns out to be another showcase for Smith or an actual test. He’ll likely have his sights set on someone on the Fatal Fury card in New York on May 2. A big-name opponent could be next for Smith if he beats Germain.
The undercard has some interesting fights. Warrington probably should be having his retirement fight, but despite having dropped his last three fights, the Leeds Warrior will climb back into the ring to face Asad Asif Khan.

This is the perfect fight for Warrington to walk away from the sport after, but he has admitted that retirement scares him. We’ll see, but hopefully he gets an opportunity to walk away on his own terms.
Another interesting scrap will see Padley face Cvetanovic. Padley made a great account of himself when he stepped in for Floyd Schofield at the Last Crescendo in February to take on Shakur Stevenson.

While Stevenson won the fight, Padley was far more competitive than most expected. Cvetanovic is another undefeated fighter with upside. We’ll find out how good both men are on Saturday in Sheffield.
Be on the lookout for the post-fight coverage for this one from Forbes’ Trent Reinsmith on Saturday morning. Later in the evening, I’ll have coverage of the Gabriella Fundora vs. Marilyn Badillo fight card.
Also, keep your eyes peeled for a major announcement from Jake Paul on Friday regarding his next fight. Here’s what to read next.
