The European crypto exchange has become a member of the Global Digital Finance (GDF), a leading industry body that supports standards and best practices in crypto assets and digital finance, Invezz learned from a press release. GDF holds quarterly global summits to bring an international community of industry participants together.
Creating market and conduct standards
As a member of the institution, Currency.com will be responsible for creating market and conduct standards for participants in the digital asset space. They will also propose best practices in an engagement forum shared by regulators, legislators, and market participants.

GDF’s working groups include experts from top exchanges Crypto.com (CRO/USD) and Coinbase as well as entities in crypto and digital finance, traditional financial services, and academic and legal communities such as DLA Piper, EY and the London Stock Exchange.
Focus on due diligence and market surveillance
Currency.com will consult the working groups KYC/AML/CTF and Market Surveillance as an expert in these areas. The former articulate best practices in customer due diligence and preventing activities associated with money laundering and terrorist financing.
The latter aim to develop mutual surveillance data frameworks and standards for digital asset markets. These are needed to address global regulatory concerns with crypto asset manipulability.
Steve Gregory, CEO of Currency.com US, commented:
We are proud to join this group of like-minded leaders working together to ensure the digital asset space grows in step with regulation. As a member of Global Digital Finance, we aim to collectively support and drive the adoption of standards and best practices. This will build greater trust and confidence among new entrants and policymakers and accelerate the development of the entire digital finance ecosystem.
Emma Joyce, Executive Director and Board Member at GDF, added:
We are delighted that Currency.com has joined the GDF membership. We look forward to further collaborating on the development of code of conduct to advance digital finance and promote the adoption of best practices for the industry.
