Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong Co-Founded NewLimit $40M

NewLimit, a San Francisco-based company, is 1.5 years old. It aims to increase the number of healthy years by working on epigenetics. It has raised $40M for this project. To show their commitment, the CEO of Coinbase, Brian Armstrong, and VC Blake Bayers have funded $110 million.

Blake Bayers, Greg Johnson, and Jacob Kimmel are the other co-founders of NewLimit. The company does not have a CEO right now. The co-founders are handling all major responsibilities.

Working on Epigenetics Can Reverse the Functional Decline of Cell

Some inevitable jokes, Coinbase, like- billionaires trying to escape death by throwing money, are doing the rounds. But the founders of NewLimit say that the reprogramming of the epigenetics of a cell will reap the result. Working on epigenetics can reverse the functional decline of a cell responsible for aging.

They held their conversation with proof that in a lab, research is done on 13 generations of mice over 22 years. An old skin cell is taken out and replaced by a new skin cell from the young mice, and the mice all live an entirely normal life ahead. But they are not sure whether it is going to work on humans or not.

They clearly state that it may not work in different cell types.

But, this really throws light on the power of the ability to just reprogram the skin cell, neuron, or heart cell using epigenetics. The word specific divers are used in this context.

This means the factors responsible for aging, like diet, exercise, sun damage, and toxins. Blake Bayer makes it clear that it is not all of them. It is epigenetics. Epigenetics is a factor that leads to the functional decline of a cell. Working on it will benefit with results.

Blake Bayer clarifies that it is a very basic research stage company. They are trying to understand the mechanism of epigenetics cells. Also, they are finding other factors that can make old cells new or young.

Experiments Started With T-Cell Declayers NewLimit

Coinbase, They are starting with an immune cell called a T cell. The idea behind this is that if this becomes successful, the old people’s immune system turns into younger and more functional ones.

Since this research is ultimately related to humans, they also cleared that donor cells are coming from blood donor draws. As T cells can be gathered from blood.

The blood draws are provided by several groups. The research projects to make medicines. These donors are aware of what their specimens are being used for.

Armstrong commented that if you have made money in software, then it’s time to give money back to society. It can help to improve biotech research and thus improves the human condition.
