Chris Eubank Sr. and Jr. clearly have a rocky relationship.
The father, a former super middleweight champion, slammed his son during a recent interview with Seconds Out for the latter’s actions during a face-off with Conor Benn, the son of Sr.’s arch rival, Nigel Benn.
Yes, there is a lot to unpack here.
In case you missed it, a few weeks back Eubank Jr. made headlines when he smashed an egg against Benn’s face during a faceoff.
Eubank Jr. was fined for his actions and maligned by most in the sport. Still, no one’s criticism figures to hit harder than the words that came from his father.
In his interview, Sr. didn’t hold back.
“Jr., you’re smashing an egg against this guy’s face,” Sr. said in the video originally posted by Seconds Out. “I taught you that? I didn’t teach you that. Who taught you that? Did Karen teach you that? Who taught you that? That’s disgraceful. I’m gonna stand in your corner? You must be mad. I would never be in your corner. You’re a disgrace. You’re smashing an egg against someone’s face and then you’re trying to justify it. There’s no justification for that. There’s nothing noble about that.”
DAZN Boxing posted the video:
The timing and tone of the comments from Eubank Sr. couldn’t have been more direct.
He didn’t just disapprove of the stunt—he distanced himself entirely from his son’s behavior and publicly condemned it in a way that made headlines. The moment has added another strange, emotionally layered wrinkle to a fight that was already drenched in history.

Eubank Sr. and the elder Benn had one of the most storied rivalries in the history of British boxing. They fought twice with Eubank winning the first meeting via TKO and the British legends battling to a draw in the second scrap. This fight between their sons was supposed to be a continuation, but it has seemingly dissolved into something else.
Boxing history is filled with rocky relationships between famous fathers and their sons, but the Eubanks have their own wing of dysfunction all to themselves.
From public criticisms to moments of visible detachment during career highs and lows, the emotional complexity between Sr. and Jr. has always been part of the story—but rarely has it spilled out this vividly in public.
Eubank Jr. and Benn fight on April 26 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in Tottenham, London, United Kingdom.
The rest of the card is strong with Anthony Yarde set to face Lyndon Arthur, Liam Smith battling Aaron McKenna and Chris Billam-Smith returning to take on Brandon Glanton.
With the bout now just days away, all eyes are on how Eubank Jr. handles both the media storm and the matchup with Benn. Whether his father’s disavowal rattles or motivates him could play a significant role in the outcome.
For fans, the generational storyline has now split off into a more complicated family chapter—one that makes April 26 a bit more interesting. And I’m not sure if I’m comfortable with that.
