Chicago Bulls Announce Motorola Mobility As New Official Jersey Patch Partner

The Chicago Bulls didn’t make many notable roster changes in the 2022 NBA offseason, but the players will look a bit different when they take the floor for the upcoming 2022-23 campaign. This big change will come in the form of a new official jersey patch partner, with the Bulls announcing Tuesday a multiyear relationship with Motorola Mobility.

This partnership is especially notable because Motorola is based in Chicago, with headquarters in the Merchandise Mart. This makes them the first Chicago-based jersey patch partner while also being an official global partner and the exclusive mobile smartphone partner of the Bulls.

“The Bulls and Motorola both have a strong connection to our shared hometown of Chicago, which played a role in establishing the foundation for our relationship,” said Bulls President Michael Reinsdorf in a statement. “We have worked together in the past, and it is exciting to see us take this significant step into a new, expanded partnership that will have local, national and global reach.”

The Motorola “batwing” logo will make its Bulls jersey debut on Oct. 4 for a preseason home game game against the New Orleans Pelicans. It will feature on all versions of Bulls jerseys this season, including the new City Edition jersey. The first City Edition home game is on Nov. 18 against the Orlando Magic.

In addition to the jersey patch, the Motorola logo will get prime placement throughout the United Center, across Bulls social media platforms and on the team website. There will be many other forms of brand integration as part of this partnership, including on broadcasts and for community initiatives.

“Chicago is the place we’ve called home for many years and the Bulls have been an organization we’ve respected and cheered on throughout that time,” said Motorola President, North America Rudi Kalil. “Motorola and the Bulls not only share an immense amount of hometown pride, but also a passion for bringing people together through unique consumer experiences. We’re thrilled to bring our two brands together and further infuse our company and versatile product portfolio with the vibrant energy of the city and Chicago Bulls and NBA fans around the world.”

Klutch Sports Group helped the Bulls secure this Motorola partnership, which is no surprise given the high-profile Klutch players on the roster. Zach LaVine and Lonzo Ball are both Klutch clients. Former Bulls Tristan Thompson and Troy Brown Jr. are also Klutch clients.

The Bulls’ first official jersey patch partner was Zenni, an eyewear company based in California. The Bulls announced a five-year partnership with Zenni back in 2018, so there’s still one year left on that deal. While Motorola is taking over as the official jersey patch partner, Zenni will still have a notable presence at the United Center in 2022-23 and will also be a participating partner for three games.

This Motorola announcement comes with the Bulls on the verge of opening training camp for the 2022-23 season. Unlike the jersey patch change, Chicago is banking on roster continuity to take another step forward, though Lonzo Ball’s nagging knee injury is complicating matters. Still, a new season always brings some level of optimism, and the Bulls are bringing hope along with this new jersey patch partner into 2022-23.
