Just a few days after being properly released, Chappell Roan’s new single “The Subway” has turned out to be one of the biggest of her career. The tune is off to a fantastic start across several Billboard charts worldwide and in America, as it seems that there is a serious demand for anything new from the singer-songwriter and current holder of the Best New Artist Grammy. “The Subway” doesn’t just earn a lofty beginning, it helps the pop star climb higher than ever on multiple tallies.

Chappell Roan’s New Career Peaks

“The Subway” opens at No. 3 on both the Hot 100, America’s list of the most consumed songs in the country, and on the Billboard Global 200, which ranks the biggest tracks all around the planet. No. 3 now stands as Roan’s all-time career high on both of those rankings.

On the Hot 100, she previously stalled at No. 4 with both “Good Luck, Babe!” and “Pink Pony Club.” Globally, “Good Luck, Babe!” — which peaked at No. 5 — stood out as her highest-rising title until this frame.

Chappell Roan Almost Hits No. 1 for the First Time

Roan almost scores her first No. 1 on the Streaming Songs tally, which looks specifically at the tunes that rack up the most plays on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, iHeartRadio, Tidal, and others in the United States. On that list, “The Subway” begins its time in the runner-up space, losing out to “Golden” from the movie KPop: Demon Hunters.

Just as is the case on the Hot 100, Roan has seen two tunes peak at No. 4 on the Streaming Songs list, although “Pink Pony Club” only galloped to No. 6 as both “Good Luck, Babe!” and “The Giver” worked their way to No. 4.

“The Subway” Launches Inside the Top 10 Everywhere

“The Subway” also enters the top 10 on two other Billboard rankings. The track is new at No. 4 on the Digital Song Sales chart and No. 10 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., though those do not mark new peak positions for the rising pop musician on those lists.

“Good Luck, Babe!” and “The Giver” Join “The Subway”

“The Subway” is the latest single from Roan that continues her global success, which is not featured on her debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. That set did produce tracks like “Pink Pony Club,” “Hot to Go!,” and “Red Wine Supernova.” While many of her most famous cuts — including “Good Luck, Babe!” and “The Giver” — are likely to be featured on a forthcoming project, though Roan has no timetable for when she may finish her sophomore full-length.
