Chappell Roan’s “The Giver” reenters U.K. charts after a vinyl release, hitting No. 2 on multiple … More
Months after its original release, Chappell Roan’s single “The Giver” returns to charts around the world. The song was recently issued on vinyl and sold tens of thousands of copies globally. That surge in purchases, which were counted once the title shipped to customers, helps it reappear on a handful of rankings in the United Kingdom, while also debuting on several others. In multiple instances, Roan just misses out on turning “The Giver” into a No. 1 smash.
“The Giver” Debuts at No. 2
This week, “The Giver” appears at No. 2 on half of all the U.K.-based charts on which it lands. The track debuts in second place on the Official Physical Singles list, while reentering the Official Singles Sales tally in the same position.
As it jumps back onto the ranking of the bestselling tracks in the country, “The Giver” reaches a new high point.
Chappell Roan Misses No. 1 Again
For the third time in her career, Roan misses scoring a No. 1 smash on the Official Singles Sales chart. “Good Luck, Babe!,” “Pink Pony Club,” and now “The Giver” have all stalled at No. 2. “Hot to Go!,” her only other win on the list, only climbed as high as No. 27.
Chappell Roan Fails to Lead for the First Time
Roan’s performance on the Official Physical Singles ranking is quite different. Throughout her career, she’s only sent three tunes to that list, which focuses on pure purchases of tracks available on formats like CD, vinyl, and cassette. Until now, all of them had reached the top spot. Both “Good Luck, Babe!” and “Pink Pony Club” spent short stints at No. 1, while “The Giver” is thus far settled for the runner-up space.
“The Giver” Peaked at No. 2 Months Ago
“The Giver” originally reached No. 2 on the Official Singles chart, which ranks the most consumed songs in the U.K. Roan debuted her country-pop tune in that position back in late March, and it then began to drift downward for a dozen weeks. Thanks to its surge in vinyl purchases, “The Giver” reenters that competitive tally at No. 43.
Chappell Roan Scores One New No. 1 Smash
While Roan does miss the throne on several sales rankings, “The Giver” does manage to debut in first place on the Official Vinyl Singles chart. On that ranking, the Grammy winner keeps her track record perfect, as all three of her hits — “Good Luck, Babe!,” “Pink Pony Club,” and now “The Giver” — have reached the uppermost space.
Lewis Capaldi Debuts at No. 1 With “Survive”
On both the Official Singles Sales and Official Physical Singles charts, Roan is kept back from running the show by the same artist: Lewis Capaldi. One of the biggest names in the U.K. music industry, Capaldi debuts his new track “Survive” at No. 1 on several rankings, including the two purchase-centric lists.
