Chappell Roan has spent the past several years leaping from indie pop fame to true superstardom. She has scored massive hits on a number of Billboard charts, but there are still a handful of rankings where she has yet to reach No. 1. Her latest single, “The Subway,” brings her closer than ever on a number of rosters and helps her hit new career highs, even as it just barely misses out on becoming the champion on one of the most competitive song tallies in the United States.
“The Subway” Launches at No. 2
“The Subway” starts at No. 2 on the Streaming Songs chart. That ranking lists only the most successful cuts on the major streaming platforms in the U.S., like Apple Music, Spotify, iHeartRadio, and several others.
“The Giver,” “Good Luck, Babe!” and “Pink Pony Club”
Roan has never earned a No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart, though she has come close on multiple occasions. “The Subway” marks her fourth trip to the top 10. “The Giver” and “Good Luck, Babe!” were previously tied as her highest-rising wins, as both stalled in fourth place. “Pink Pony Club,” one of her most famous tracks, also reached the region as it peaked at No. 6. Another cut from her debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, the upbeat “Hot to Go!,” almost cracked the tier, but instead it stopped at No. 12.
“Golden” From KPop Demon Hunters Leads Again
Only the biggest song in America keeps Roan from her debut leader on the Streaming Songs tally. “Golden,” taken from Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters, leads the chart yet again, as it’s not just the most-streamed tune in the country, but also the most popular when it comes to general consumption.
Chappell Roan’s New Top 10 Smashes
“The Subway” is an instant top 10 success on every Billboard ranking it debuts on this frame. The cut earns its loftiest start on the Streaming Songs tally, while it kicks off its time on the Hot 100 at No. 3 and opens on the Digital Song Sales ranking at No. 4. Looking worldwide, “The Subway” enters the Billboard Global 200 at No. 3 and narrowly finds space inside the highest tier on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., where it begins its time in tenth place.
