Roofman, starring Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst, is reportedly coming to digital streaming this week.
Rated R, Roofman opened in theaters on Oct. 10. The official summary for the movie reads, “Based on an unbelievable true story, Roofman follows Jeffrey Manchester (Tatum), a former Army Ranger and struggling father who turns to robbing McDonald’s restaurants by cutting holes in their roofs, earning him the nickname ‘Roofman.’
“After escaping prison, he secretly lives inside a Toys ‘R’ Us for six months, surviving undetected while planning his next move. But when he falls for Leigh (Dunst), a divorced mom drawn to his undeniable charm, his double life begins to unravel, setting off a compelling and suspenseful game of cat and mouse as his past closes in.”
Roofman is expected to make its digital streaming debut via premium video on demand on Tuesday, Nov. 11, When to Stream. While When to Stream is typically accurate with its PVOD release dates reports, the streaming tracker did not indicate if the release date was announced or confirmed by Paramount Pictures — the studio behind Roofman — and the date is subject to change.
When Roofman debuts on PVOD, it will be available on such digital platforms as Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Prime Video and YouTube for $24.99 to purchase. Since PVOD rentals typically run $5 less than purchases, viewers can expect to rent the film for $19.99 for a 48-hour period.
Channing Tatum Refers To The Real Jeffrey Manchester As ‘A Big Kid’
Part of Channing Tatum’s research to play Jeffrey Manchester in Roofman was to talk with the real-life “Roofman,” which he did through a series of phone calls to the prison where Manchester is currently serving time.
The conversations — Tatum told Deadline in an interview prior to the release of director Derek Cianfrance’s film in October — made the actor realize why Manchester sought refuge in a place he could play around in when he escaped from prison.
“There’s obviously a reason why he chose a toy store to hide in. He kind of is a big kid. He just wants to play all the time,” Tatum told Deadline. “And Jeff is excitable. Derek would always joke about if he was going to kill an ant, he would do it with a sledgehammer.
“He’s just a little bit extra, just a little too much. If he loves you, he’s going to love you a little too much,” Tatum added. “I truly found myself just genuinely liking this human and knowing that he’s done the things that he’s done, I still really, really have a lot of hope for him.”
Roofman — which also stars Peter Dinklage, Lakeith Stanfield, Ben Mendelsohn, Juno Temple, Melonie Diaz, Uzo Aduba, Lily Collias and Jimmy O. Yang — is expected to arrive on PVOD on Tuesday.
