On Tuesday, Chainlink Labs hired Dahlia Malkhi, a former Diem executive for assisting in expanding its data oracle network.
After working as a chief research officer at the Diem Association, the stablecoin backed by Facebook that fizzled out earlier this year, Malkhi became chief research officer.
A decentralized blockchain oracle network built on Ethereum, Chainlink shares information like price quotes and weather across blockchains. Chainlink Labs is a corporation that creates that network.
Mlakhi will operate on the technologies that back the infrastructure required to give a push to web3, which as the experts believe is the blockchain future of the internet.
The recent development is a continuation of the Diem Association’s talent exodus that Facebook started in 2019 as Libra and recently sold to Silvergate Bank during its shut down. Chainlink is hiring at a great speed such as ex-Google CEO Eric Schmidt and co-founder of Diem, Christian Catalini.
Chainlink Labs CEO Sergey Nazarov in a press statement calls the hiring of Malkhi, an ideal addition because of her expertise in consensus mechanisms for blockchain networks.
Last year, a former vice president of Learning Solutions at LinkedIn, Mike Derezin became chief operations officer at Chainlink Labs, according to a press release.
As decentralized financial applications in hundreds, functioning on multiple blockchains were added to its oracle in November, the Chainlink network topped $75 billion in total value. Oracles work to connect blockchains to external systems, which would then enable smart contracts to be executed based on events happening in the real world. For instance, the oracles obtain data like weather results from external sources to blockchains like the Binance Smart Chain and Ethereum. The provided information will then enable a smart contract to self-execute based on a predetermined agreement.
Swisscom, the largest telecommunications provider in Switzerland, announced that it is launching a Chainlink oracle node to offer data for a decentralized financial application, in August.
