Many of the members of BTS have achieved individual stardom alongside their phenomenal success as a K-pop group. Now, during their break, that popularity is coming in handy, as most of the BTS singers are releasing their own music. Jung Kook, one of the seven singers in BTS, began to establish himself as a solo artist in 2022, and it seems like 2023 could be an even bigger year for him.
Jung Kook recently announced his upcoming single, “Seven,” which is set to be released in mid-July. The news of his new music immediately went viral, and considering his past chart performance and the success of his bandmates in recent months, there is every reason to believe that “Seven” will become a hit upon its release.
But that’s not all that has fans excited. Jung Kook recently surprised his followers by re-releasing two tracks from his past, “Still With You” and “My Time.” These songs are now available on streaming platforms and download stores worldwide for the first time as official releases. Although these tracks were initially released years ago in a manner that didn’t help them reach the Billboard charts, they are now accumulating streams and sales. It appears that both songs are poised to make debuts on various important rankings in the coming days.
Jung Kook officially began releasing music under his own name in 2022, prior to which he had shared a few tunes mainly for dedicated BTS fans. Last year, he took the more traditional route by releasing a handful of high-profile singles. These individual tracks not only marked his first appearances on the Billboard charts as a solo artist but also showcased his potential as a breakout star from BTS.
In 2022, Jung Kook’s solo track “Stay Alive” propelled him to the Hot 100 for the first time, peaking at No. 95 on the 100-spot tally. It was a lowly starting point, but the fact that he made it onto the chart was significant for him. A few months later, he collaborated with pop singer Charlie Puth on the song “Left and Right,” which reached as high as No. 22 on the Hot 100. Before 2023 arrived, he released “Dreamers” in association with the FIFA World Cup, which failed to hit the Hot 100 but debuted at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart.
Looking ahead, it is possible that before August arrives, Jung Kook could see three of his tracks enter the Hot 100, making 2023 his biggest year yet as a solo artist. There are also rumors circulating about an upcoming album, which may result in more singles and even more chart success for Jung Kook.
