BTS’s Jung Kook Could Debut His Single At No. 1 In The U.K. Next Week

Jung Kook, one of the members of the globally-adored pop band BTS, recently embarked on his solo career with the highly-anticipated single “Seven.” Since its release just a few days ago, fans from all corners of the world have eagerly streamed and purchased the song in its various versions, propelling it toward significant chart success globally. Now, it appears that Jung Kook’s first major solo track has the potential to achieve a historic victory in just a matter of days.

According to the Official Charts Company—the U.K.’s equivalent of Billboard—”Seven” is making a serious bid for the No. 1 spot on the singles chart. The track is reportedly only 2,000 equivalent units behind the current leader, Dave and Central Cee’s “Sprinter,” and there’s still several days to go before this tracking frame ends.

“Sprinter” has dominated the U.K. songs ranking for six weeks, fending off competition from some of the country’s biggest stars…but Jung Kook’s popularity might be too much for the tune. If the BTS singer manages to debut “Seven” at the top of the tally, he will make history in several ways.

Until now, only one track by a South Korean artist, Psy’s “Gangnam Style,” has dominated the U.K. singles chart, a feat it managed over a decade ago. Since then, very few artists from South Korea have come even close, and the number of top 10 hits by K-pop stars on the U.K. chart remains relatively small.

“Seven” is already on track to become Jung Kook’s most successful solo release to date in the U.K. While he has previously charted with two songs bearing his name, neither “Stay Alive” and “Left and Right” with Charlie Puth managed to break into the top 40. With the incredible response and momentum behind “Seven,” the song is also poised to become featured rapper Latto’s biggest hit in the country as well.
