BTS member Jimin has taken the music world by storm with the release of his debut solo collection, Face. Within a week of its unveiling, the star has been appearing on music charts worldwide, making history in the process in many different markets
This week, Jimin debuts his new single “Like Crazy” at No. 8 on the U.K. songs chart. This is an excellent starting point for the singer-songwriter’s cut, and it marks the first time Jimin has entered the top 10 on his own.
With this new win, Jimin joins an exclusive club of South Korean solo musicians who have reached the top 10 on the U.K. songs chart. He shares this feat with none other than Psy, who broke barriers over a decade ago with his viral hit “Gangnam Style.” That title became a proper smash hit globally, including in the U.K., where it reached No. 1 on the singles chart. To date, Psy remains the only K-pop act to top the U.K. tally.
Psy’s achievements didn’t end there. He returned to the top tier with his follow-up song, “Gentleman,” which peaked at No. 10 on the competitive ranking. He is still the only South Korean soloist to reach the top 10 in the U.K. more than once.
Jimin’s “Like Crazy” makes him the first BTS member to enter the top 10 in the U.K. on his own, though others have also reached the ranking and landed meaningful hits. Currently, the band is on hiatus, and several members are busy working on solo material. As a septet, BTS managed to push four singles into the top 10 on the U.K. songs chart, including three that stopped at No. 3, coincidentally.
Jimin’s debut solo collection Face has received an overwhelming response from fans worldwide, and his latest achievement on the U.K. songs chart is just one more indication that Jimin really is a star in his own right.
