BTS Chart Another No. 1 Hit…Even Though They’re Not Promoting Anything

BTS has once again proven their immense popularity and reach by debuting their track “Attack On Bangtan” at No. 1 on the latest World Digital Song Sales chart. This achievement is all the more impressive because the track has been out for almost a decade, and the band is currently on something of a hiatus, meaning they aren’t actively releasing or promoting anything at the moment.

Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart ranks the bestselling “world” singles in the U.S. every week. “Attack On Bangtan” opens in first place this time around thanks to the efforts of dedicated fans who worked together to purchase the cut in large enough quantities to see it beat out every other title.

This latest winner is BTS’s thirty-third No. 1 hit on the World Digital Song Sales chart and their first new leader since “Yet to Come,” which rose to the summit last June. The South Korean outfit has now placed an incredible 146 tunes on the roster, with an astounding 115 of them reaching the top 10 on the World Digital Song Sales chart throughout their years together.

BTS further their lead over every other K-pop act when looking at those names who have landed the most No. 1 hits on the World Digital Song Sales chart. Coming in behind the septet is Blackpink, who nabbed their ninth leader in late 2022.

At the same time “Attack On Bangtan” opens in first place on the World Digital Song Sales chart, the tune also appears on the all-genre, all-language Digital Song Sales ranking. BTS’s latest smash begins its time on that tally at No. 28, giving the seven-member vocal group their sixty-fifth hit on that list. According to data shared by Luminate (formerly known as Nielsen), “Attack On Bangtan” sold just over 2,500 copies in the past tracking frame.

“Attack On Bangtan” was originally released as an album cut on BTS’ first EP, O!RUL8,2?, which came out in September 2013. The set helped introduce the band to fans all around the world and set the stage for their unprecedented success. However, the project has yet to chart in the U.S. Nevertheless, “Attack On Bangtan” has now become a proper hit and added another feather to BTS’s cap.
