Bruno Mars has been a fixture on American radio for well over a decade. He has one of the best track records in the music industry of producing singles that listeners can’t get enough of and that DJs and programmers not only feel comfortable picking up and putting into rotation, but keeping there for months, if not years, at a time.
That continued success on the airwaves makes Mars’s one of the most valuable catalogs in pop, and he has a new career-defining smash to his name as “Die with a Smile” is proving to be one of his most successful radio hits.
“Die with a Smile” Reaches 50 Weeks at Radio
“Die with a Smile,” Mars’s collaboration with Lady Gaga, hits 50 weeks on the Radio Songs chart, which ranks the tracks that reach the largest number of listeners across all radio formats in the United States. The tune is the singer-songwriter’s third to make it to that milestone, and it’s currently tied with his solo cut “That’s What I Like” for the second-longest stay on the competitive roster.
“Uptown Funk” Remains Bruno Mars’s Biggest Hit
Another one of Mars’s most popular collaborations, “Uptown Funk,” which saw him team up with super producer Mark Ronson, still leads as his longest-charting hit on the Radio Songs tally. Starting in December 2014, that former 12-week No. 1 lived on the list for 54 frames.
“Die with a Smile” Ranks Among the Top Radio Hits
Amazingly, even as it approaches its first full year on the Radio Songs chart, “Die with a Smile” remains one of the biggest hits across all radio formats in the country. This time around, it dips from No. 2 to No. 3 — a position that suggests the Grammy-winning duet won’t slip away anytime soon.
There’s a good chance that “Die with a Smile” will soon pass “That’s What I Like” and, in a month or so, perhaps even “Uptown Funk” to become Mars’s longest-charting radio banger.
Radio Chart Success for “Die with a Smile”
“Die with a Smile” also hits 50 weeks on three other radio-focused rankings published by Billboard. The tune lives inside the top 10 on both the Adult Pop Airplay and Adult Contemporary charts, sitting at Nos. 2 and 4, respectively, while it holds at No. 13 on the Pop Airplay list.
Bruno Mars and Rosé Collaboration Continues
Mars fills a pair of spots on the Radio Songs tally, and both are collaborations with women. His team-up with Blackpink star Rosé, “Apt.,” dips from No. 33 to No. 35, 37 weeks into its time on the Radio Songs chart. That tune peaked at No. 4, becoming one of Mars’s 20 top 10s and a historic win for Rosé.
