Britney Spears celebrates the twenty-fifth anniversary of Oops!… I Did It Again with a re-release … More
By the time she released Oops!… I Did It Again, Britney Spears was already a global pop superstar. The singer had scored one of the greatest debuts of all time with “…Baby One More Time” (and the album of the same name) which arrived the year prior. Her follow-up proved she was no one-hit wonder and that a new powerhouse talent had arrived — one who would change pop music forever.
Spears’s record label is celebrating the project’s twenty-fifth anniversary with a special re-release, which fans were quick to snap up however they could.
Oops!… I Did It Again Returns
The Oops!… I Did It Again twenty-fifth anniversary edition currently sits at No. 20 on the iTunes Top Albums chart in the U.S. It stands as one of the highest-rising debuts this week, despite being part of a crowded Friday packed with exciting new drops. Spears comes in just behind newly-shared efforts by Morgan Wallen, BTS singer Jin, Sleep Theory, Sons of Sunday, Linkin Park, and the composer behind Disney+’s hugely popular Andor series.
This may be just the beginning for the re-released Oops!… I Did It Again, which could continue to climb as fans across the U.S. wake up and realize they can now purchase the expanded set.
Expanded Vinyl Edition Sells Out Quickly
The twenty-fifth anniversary edition of Oops!… I Did It Again was also released on vinyl, a highly-collectible format these days. The double LP is spread out across four sides of music, featuring several B-sides, relatively unknown tracks, and a number of remixes — including two brand new cuts never before featured on a full-length.
Pressed on red/purple colored wax, the records came with additional goodies, including a new cover and a 20-page booklet with photos of the Grammy winner. Fans were quick to purchase the $100 release, which has already sold out on Spears’s website.
Britney Spears’s Iconic Album Turns 25
Spears dropped Oops!… I Did It Again on May 16, 2000, which aligns perfectly with today’s release. The project hit even harder than her introductory …Baby One More Time, which reinvigorated the market for teen pop. The title track was the biggest hit from the album, and it was followed by major successes like “Lucky” and “Stronger.” Oops!… I Did It Again easily conquered the Billboard 200 and has since been certified diamond for moving at least 10 million copies in the U.S. alone.
