Bray Wyatt Vs. Bobby Lashley WrestleMania 39 Match May Be In Doubt

Another Raw, another quiet night for Bray Wyatt and Bobby Lashley.

As WWE enters the home stretch of WrestleMania season, two if its top stars remain conspicuous by their absences.

Neither Wyatt nor Lashley—who are tentatively slated for a WrestleMania match—were featured on WWE Raw last night. Both were also absent this past Friday on SmackDown. Bray Wyatt has not appeared on WWE programming since the February 24 SmackDown. With Wyatt, Uncle Howdy, Lashley and even Alexa Bliss missing, Wyatt’s WrestleMania match against Lashley is suddenly in doubt.

“I don’t want to say it looks like he’s off the show, but it looks like he’s off the show because they are not mentioning his name at all,” said Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio.

“They did a little flash with the Bray Wyatt stuff on the Friday night show, so he’s with the company, obviously, and there’s a video where they showed him briefly so it’s not like he’s scrubbed from anything. But he was supposed to be on the show Friday night. It’s a health issue and the health issue isn’t cleared up yet.”

Wyatt’s reported health issues are currently undisclosed, however there were conflicting reports regarding whether or not Wyatt’s health played a role in his shocking 2021 release. Dating back to August 2021, sources close to Wyatt claimed he was healthy and ready to compete. Wyatt has wrestled 12 matches since his heralded return in October 2022, working with Jinder Mahal and LA Knight. Only one of those matches—a Mountain Dew Pitch Black Match against Knight at this year’s WWE Royal Rumble—was televised.

Speculation on Wyatt’s WrestleMania status began last week when he did not appear at a live event at Madison Square Garden despite being advertised. He was replaced by Braun Strowman.

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T
T
also cast doubt on whether or not he feels Wyatt vs. Lashley will take place at WrestleMania 39.

“I’m thinking no also. Who wins that match? What do we get out of that match? Who benefits from that match?” said Booker T on his “Hall of Fame” podcast.

Lashley defeated Brock Lesnar by disqualification at WWE Elimination Chamber after Wyatt challenged the winner of the match on the February 17 broadcast of SmackDown. Wyatt went on to taunt Lashley with a series of “Muscle Man Dance” vignettes before airing a cryptic video asking “can you keep a secret?” The reason behind Wyatt’s sudden disappearance remains a secret to just about everybody.

With just two episodes of WWE Raw and one SmackDown left until WrestleMania, it’s getting late quickly for WWE to move forward with one of its top matches.
