BOLT FUN will be hosting its second virtual hackathon dubbed Shock The Web 2 for Lightning. BOLT FUN is a platform for Lightning Network development and education.
Virtual Hackathon, Shock The Web 2, will start on Thursday, June 16, and is going to be completely free and will run for four days. The purpose of BOLT with this event is to make development and design on Bitcoin more accessible by adding builders with mentorship, educational content, fun, and prizes.
On the first day of the event, fun activities such as lightning workshops, discussions, and talks, were led by thought leaders and industry experts. After experiencing the lightning development, the participants will be given complete liberty to design and create their own individual products or with a team.
On Friday, hackers should be able to start to work on their projects over the weekend, while mentors will also be there to provide guidance. From 17:00 – 19:00 UTC on Sunday, the participants will be able to present their projects and will have the chance to get rewards worth over $2,500 in bitcoin prices.
The makers have tried to create a user-friendly experience that urges users to participate in the event. In addition, for anyone interested in joining, BOLT offers informational content from the first event, including 10 hours of tutorials from the first event. Individuals who aim to build on Lightning for the first time could also use this guide on designing your first Lightning web application.
BOLT seeks to create something on the success of the first event, Shock The Web, that happened this past March. 80 hackers took part in the debut event, and 13 Lightning Network applications were submitted with $2,600 in prizes distributed.
