After years of quiet, Blackpink returned this summer with “Jump,” its highly-anticipated single, and first in a long time. In between releases, the four members of the outfit – Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa and Rosé – all released solo collections, and many of them enjoyed great commercial success all around the world, and even scored historic wins in America.
“Jump” is a thrilling, arena-sized dance anthem, and it has become a special hit for the band. As the tune holds on the Hot 100 once more, it reaches a notable landmark — one which the K-pop outfit has never seen before in the United States.
How Long Has Blackpink’s “Jump” Lived on the Hot 100?
“Jump” has now spent 10 weeks on the Hot 100, Billboard’s ranking of the most successful songs in the U.S. The catchy cut is the first by Blackpink to make it to double-digit frames somewhere on the most competitive songs tally in the country.
Which K-Pop Groups Have 10-Week Hot 100 Hits?
Only five K-pop groups have seen at least one song spend 10 weeks or more on the Hot 100. Blackpink joins BTS, Fifty Fifty, Huntr/x and Saja Boys in this feat. The latter two of those acts scored their first 10-week winners only recently, and they’re all still on the chart.
Which BTS Songs Spent the Most Time on the Hot 100?
Among all K-pop acts, BTS leads the way with the most songs that have spent 10 weeks or longer on the Hot 100. “Dynamite” owns this bit of history, as it managed an incredible 32 frames on the roster. For some time, that figure stood as the longest-charting K-pop tune ever in America.
The group followed “Dynamite” with “Butter” and “My Universe” with Coldplay, which managed 20 and 17 frames on the list, respectively. Earlier, before “Dynamite,” “Mic Drop” — the Steve Aoki remix, which also credits rapper Desiigner — managed exactly 10 turns on the Hot 100.
How Fifty Fifty Made History With “Cupid” on the Hot 100
The first girl group to earn a 10-week charter on the Hot 100 was Fifty Fifty. The band shattered barriers with its breakout single “Cupid,” which remains its only hit on the Hot 100 to date. “Cupid” racked up 25 turns on the list — just shy of half a year.
The Surprising Hot 100 Success of KPop Demon Hunters’s Hits
Two fictional K-pop groups from Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters are also members of this club. “Golden,” which continues to lead the Hot 100 and comes from girl group Huntr/x and singers Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami – as are all Huntr/x songs – is up to a lucky 13 stays on the tally.
The same trio (which technically credits four musicians) has kept “How It’s Done,” “What It Sounds Like,” and “Take Down” on the chart for one fewer frame, as they are all up to 12 weeks.
Saja Boys Land Multiple Hot 100 Smashes From KPop Demon Hunters
Saja Boys, another completely made-up band from KPop Demon Hunters, has racked up two such smashes. “Your Idol,” which has thus far stalled at No. 4 on the Hot 100, is tied with “Golden” with 13 frames on the tally. “Soda Pop,” which stalled just one spot beneath “Your Idol,” has held on for an even dozen. Like Huntr/x, all Saja Boys tracks also name the vocalists individually, so singers Andrew Choi, Neckwav, Danny Chung, Kevin Woo, and Samuil Lee have all landed a pair of top 10s on the list.
How Many Hot 100 Hits Does Blackpink Have?
Throughout the years, Blackpink has scored 10 hits on the Hot 100, which is one of the largest accumulations of wins among K-pop stars. For half a decade, “Ice Cream,” the group’s collaboration with Selena Gomez, stood as its longest-charting hit, with eight weeks on the Hot 100. That collaboration was followed closely by “Pink Venom” with half a dozen frames.
What Are Blackpink’s Highest-Charting Hot 100 Songs?
When it comes to peak position on the Hot 100, the ranking differs slightly from the longevity roster. “Ice Cream” remains Blackpink’s highest-rising hit, as it climbed all the way to No. 13. “Pink Venom” and “Shut Down” sit ahead of “Jump,” as they climbed to No. 22 and No. 25, respectively. “Jump” rose as high as No. 28, where the tune debuted.
Blackpink’s “Jump” Remains a Top 10 Dance Smash
“Jump” falls to No. 95 on the Hot 100 this week, and it will likely disappear from the ranking soon, if not in a day or so when Billboard refreshes its rankings again. The single continues to live inside the top 10 on multiple dance-focused rosters, where it performed best. “Jump” even lifts nine spaces to No. 31 on the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart, hitting a new peak position in just its second frame on that list.
