Blackpink Enjoys Post-Coachella Gains On The Billboard Charts

Coachella 2023 has come to an end and music lovers are looking back on some of the incredible performances that took place across the two weekends. One act that has been receiving a lot of attention is the South Korean girl group, Blackpink. One of the three names who headlined at the festival, the quartet is starting to make some noticeable gains on the Billboard charts thanks to their performances.

Blackpink is currently performing better on the Billboard Global 200—a weekly ranking of the 200 most-consumed songs in the world—than they have in recent memory. The chart company uses a methodology that includes sales and streams to give an accurate picture of what people are listening to across the globe when compiling the Billboard Global 200.

K-pop favorites Blackpink now occupy two spaces on the tally, which is worth mention, as prior to Coachella, they did not have fill spots on the chart.

Their single “Shut Down” is experiencing an increase in popularity, moving up nearly 10 spaces from No. 189 to No. 180 on the Billboard Global 200. “Pink Venom” has also made a comeback on the competitive chart. It was absent from the ranking last time but now it re-enters the list at No. 190 this week.

On the World Albums chart, Blackpink has also made a reappearance at No. 14 with their latest full-length album, The Album. Although this is low on the 15-space roster, it’s still an impressive feat considering they were not even on the ranking in the previous frame.

The gains made by Blackpink only reflect the attention they received during the first weekend of Coachella. The group returned to headline the festival for the second weekend, which ended only a few days ago. It remains to be seen whether their second appearance will result in further gains on next week’s Billboard charts, or whether the bumps will be more focused on their initial showing.

Fans who watched Blackpink live, tuned into the YouTube livestreams, or simply followed news about the festival on social media continue to consume their work. The group’s popularity is on the rise once again, and their performances at Coachella have certainly given them a boost.
