Bayern Munich Want To Sign FC Barcelona Pearl Gavi

Bayern Munich are interested in snatching Gavi away from FC Barcelona and signing the midfield sensation on a free contract if not activating his release clause.

Elevated to the first team in 2021 on the watch of former coach Ronald Koeman, the Sevilla native who has been on Barca’s books since he was aged 10 has a contract which expires in 2023.

Furthermore, should the endless list of European giants interested in luring the 17-year-old breakout star away from Camp Nou not wish to wait for the turn of next year when they could negotiate a deal for him without paying a single penny to the club that reared him, Gavi can already be purchased by activating his paltry €50mn ($54mn) release clause.

Joining the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool among the interested parties are now, according to Mundo Deportivo, Bundesliga kings Bayern Munich, who have already seen the Spain international up close in two Champions League group matches this term won comfortably 3-0 by the Bavarians on each occasion.

The paper writes on Sunday that Bayern’s interest is “especially worrying” and that “when the Germans set a goal, they usually achieve it”.

Bayern Munich could also be reacting to FC Barcelona’s alleged ploy to snatch away their best player in Robert Lewandowski.

A free man himself when Gavi is, the Poland captain and club’s second all-time scorer has rebuffed contract renewal talks with Bayern and could be wearing Blaugrana in 2022/2023 if Barca’s bid between €50-60mn is accepted amid rumors that Lewandowski has already accepted the Catalans’ contract offer.

But there is no way that Barca would be interested in a swap deal in case Gavi firmly stated that he has no interest in continuing with his current employers, which doesn’t seem to be the case.

It is more about getting a long-term contract over the line, but one that Gavi and his camp feel the youngster deserves which would certainly be a lot more than the relative pittance of €100,000 ($108,000) per year he currently takes home.

As has been seen with Pedri and, in the coming days, Ronald Araujo, agreeing new terms would also likely have Gavi’s release clause increase to €1bn ($1.080bn) and tie him down to the club until well into the mid-2020s.
