Barbra Streisand’s New Album Scores A Lofty — And Coincidental — Debut

Barbra Streisand’s recording career has lasted longer than most musical acts can dream of. The multi-talented singer-songwriter, producer, and actor released her first project — the simply-titled The Barbra Streisand Album — in early 1963, more than six decades ago.

While she doesn’t produce new work as often as she once did, Streisand still occasionally gives her fan base brand new work to enjoy, including her most recent full-length, The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume II. That set arrives on charts all around the world this week, and in the United Kingdom, it brings the superstar back to the top 10 on multiple lists.

The Secret of Life Debuts at No. 6 on Three Charts

Coincidentally, The Secret of Life launches at No. 6 on three different album rankings in the U.K. The project only reaches five tallies overall, and it’s a top 10 win on all but two of them. Streisand’s latest enters in sixth place on the Official Albums Sales, Official Album Downloads and the Official Physical Albums charts, all at the same time.

Barbra Streisand Scores Her Tenth Top 10

Streisand earns her milestone tenth top 10 hit on the Official Physical Albums chart as The Secret of Life debuts. She has now scored more than twice as many placements inside the loftiest tier on the list of the bestselling EPs and full-lengths on any physical medium than she has on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Album Downloads rankings combined. On those tallies, Streisand earns her fourth and fifth top 10s, respectively.

A Top 40 Win Across the Board

The Secret of Life is a top 40 win on every U.K. tally, which is quite the accomplishment for a singer who has been releasing music for well over half a century. Streisand launches her latest studio LP at No. 32 on the Official Vinyl Albums chart. As it arrives, she scores just her third-ever win on that format-specific ranking.

The same effort — which sees her teaming up with superstars like Hozier, Sam Smith, Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande, and even Bob Dylan — narrowly sneaks into the important tier on the main ranking of the most consumed albums in the U.K., where it begins its time at No. 40.
