Baldur’s Gate 3 players download over one million mods in less than 24 hours

Baldur’s Gate 3 mode support has seen increased activity, with over one million mods being downloaded by gamers within its first 24 hrs of release. This is after the Patch 7 launch, which brought official modding tools for PC players making it easy to customize and create content. Additionally, in October, console players are set to receive the mod support.

Although mod support is presently restricted to the PC, players have rapidly adopted those new tools introduced by the update. Players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S eagerly await the release of mod support next month, which will let them utilize a limited number of mods through official channels.

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are rapidly installing mods after patch 7 launch

While Patch 7 is the largest update released for Baldur’s Gate 3 so far, as it comes with new ending cinematics and quite a number of bugs fixed, it also has some new changes. What stands out however is the introduction of official support for mods mods – a requested feature that has allowed gamers to easily create and install modifications to the game. The update also includes a dedicated menu for managing mods, reducing what was more a manual and technical process previously.

Larian Studios cited that some modders were granted early access to the new tools, even before the Patch 7 came out. This early access allowed the mod creators to make ready content in advance, making sure that from day one, gamers will find a whole range of mods to choose from. To this point, the most sought-after mods included new hair-cuts for characters, new armors, and even new classes, all of which have led to a rapid increase in the number of downloads.

Console players preparing for mod support coming in October

Console players will certainly be more restricted in terms of mod options than PC players; nevertheless, they will still have access to several player-created content. This includes popular mods for improving customization options, such as the new hairstyle and armor, allowing console players to have the same creative freedom as PC players currently have.

As it stands currently, players on PC are making full use of the new modding options included in Patch 7 of Baldur’s Gate 3 and trying many more modifications. Console players are waiting for the update in October, so it’s expected that the modding community will keep growing, adding more content and creativity to the game even further.
