‘Avengers’ Directors Will Produce a Mini-Series on FTX Fallout

For all the crypto enthusiasts, the daily dose related to FTX fallout is not new. And now here is an update as Amazon orders a limited series about the so-called FTX scandal from the Russo brothers.

The FTX Mini-Series

Here, the Russo brothers are the directors of famous “Avengers: Endgame,” who will produce a mini-series that will be based on FTX’s collapse, along with “multiple Marvel actors,” in talks to star.

Meanwhile Amazon has placed an order for a miniseries based on the FTX collapse from the directors behind Marvel’s “Avengers” franchise.

Variety, a film trade paper, wrote on November 23, 2022, that Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame,” as well as Netflix’s “The Gray Man,” will produce the eight-episode series via their production company ABGO.

The directors are also in talks to direct the series as well as executive producing. David Weil will write the series who previously credits Amazon’s Hunters and Solos, and Apple TV+’s Invasion. The mini series will be based on “insider reporting” from several in-identified journalists, who previously covered the FTX story or about the ex-CEO, Sam Bankman-Fried.

The Russo brothers described the FTX collapse as “one of the most brazen frauds ever committed,” and called Bankman-Fried, “an extremely mysterious figure with complex and potentially dangerous motivations.”

The casting for the mini-series is moving around “multiple Marvel actors.” Beside the Russos, other executive producers on the series include AGBO’s Mike Larocca, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Scott Nemes, as well as Natalie Laine Williams.

According to Variety, Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios, stated that “We are excited to be able to continue our great working relationship with David, Joe, Anthony, and the AGBO team with this fascinating event series.”

She further added “I can’t think of better partners to bring this multifaceted story to our global Prime Video audience.”

It can be seen that the entertainment industry already produced several works that focused on troubled entrepreneurs and their firms; like Amanda Seyfried starred as Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes—recently sentenced to 11 years in prison for fraud—in Hulu’s “The Dropout,” while Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway recently played WeWork founders Adam and Rebekah Neumann in Apple’s “WeCrashed.”

Additionally, earlier this week, as per the report in trade paper, The Hollywood Reporter, Apple is closing in on a deal for the rights to Michael Lewis’ book on FTX. Lewis, the author of “The Big Short,” “Moneyball” and “Flash Boys,” spent six months “traveling with and interviewing Sam Bankman-Fried” for the book, as per a letter circulated by his agency CAA.
