Director James Cameron said Avatar: The Way Of Water will pass its break-even point, $2 billion, “in the next few days,” after he said the film needed to become one of the highest-grossing ever in order for it to be profitable.

In an interview on Who’s Talking To Chris Wallace, which aired Friday on HBO Max, Cameron said “just with the momentum it has now” the film will soon cross its breakeven point.
Cameron said Avatar 3 has already been “captured and photographed,” Avatar 4 and 5 are both written, and “we even have some of four in the can.”
As of Friday, Avatar: The Way Of Water had made $1.54 billion.
It’s now the ninth highest-global release of all time.
Avatar: The Way Of Water is expected to make $30 to $35 billion at the box office this weekend, bringing it closer to, but not over, the $2 billion mark, according to Variety.
