‘Assassin’s Creed Mirage’ Is Bucking Trends And Releasing Early

Usually when we hear about video games getting a new release date, it’s because of a game delay. Sometimes games are pushed back years, like Halo: Infinite which probably ought to have been delayed even further back. Other games slowly become the stuff of legend, like that unicorn Half-Life 3. Others languish in development hell, like Ubisoft’s pirate-based Skull & Bones.

And then there is that rarest of occasions when a title is actually bumped up to an earlier release date. Such is the case with Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

“Assassin’s Creed Mirage has gone gold and is coming out a week early!” Ubisoft tweeted Monday. “On behalf of the entire team, we can’t wait for you to explore 9th Century Baghdad with Basim.”

The game is now launching on October 5th, which places it directly between two of the year’s biggest releases: Starfield on September 6th and Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare III on November 10th.

It is just one of many major releases in 2023, which has already seen the launches of behemoths like Hogwarts Legacy, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Diablo IV, The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom, Baldur’s Gate 3 and the upcoming Armored Core VI: Fires Of Rubicon.

Good grief, who has the time!? At least this new Assassin’s Creed is shorter and more focused than the last few in the series. Instead of the vast, sprawling RPGs the franchise turned into, Mirage goes back to the series roots, with more stealth and less busy work.
