Ariana Grande Charts A New No. 1 Album In America

Wicked: For Good, the second of two filmed adaptations of the Broadway blockbuster, immediately hit No. 1 at the box office when it was released in mid-November. Now the soundtrack that accompanies the conclusion of the high-flying saga has also reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts — several of them, in fact.

The full-length, which is credited to both stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, as well as the entire Wicked cast as a whole, launches on multiple rankings in the United States this week, and it is off to a magical start on each and every one of them.

Wicked: For Good Debuts at No. 1 on Several Billboard Charts

The Wicked: For Good soundtrack leads two Billboard tallies this frame. The project arrives at No. 1 on both the Soundtracks and Vinyl Albums charts.

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Reach the Same Milestone

Both Grande and Erivo earn their second appearances — and second No. 1s — on the Soundtracks-only roster. The original Wicked, which debuted almost exactly a year to the day before the sequel, spent an incredible 21 frames running the show.

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande Return to No. 1 on the Vinyl Chart

Over on the Vinyl Albums chart, Erivo also collects her second No. 1 and third top 10. In addition to both Wicked projects, her solo release I Forgive You, which launched in June of this year, peaked at No. 10.

Grande claims twice as many champions as Erivo on the Vinyl Albums tally. On top of both Wicked soundtracks, Eternal Sunshine spent time leading the charge on the format-specific ranking.

The pop star has accrued nine appearances on the Vinyl Albums chart, and only two missed out on the highest tier. Meanwhile, Thank U, Next, Sweetener, and K Bye for Now (SWT Live) peaked at Nos. 3, 5, and 9, respectively.

Wicked: For Good Barely Misses Out on Running the Show

The Wicked: For Good soundtrack barely misses out on becoming a leader on another two Billboard charts. The second installment in the franchise arrives in the runner-up spot on both the Billboard 200 and Top Album Sales charts.

Luminate reports that Wicked: For Good arrives with 122,400 equivalent units shifted between purchases and streaming activity. Sales made up 85,200 of those copies. If it was not for Do It, the new EP by South Korean boy band Stray Kids, Wicked: For Good would have launched at No. 1 on both rosters.

How Many Top 10 Albums Has Ariana Grande Charted?

On the Billboard 200, Erivo ties her career high, as the first Wicked soundtrack also peaked at No. 2. Grande adds a ninth top 10 to her growing list of winners. Half a dozen of those projects have peaked at No. 1, while her only three other top 10 successes — Dangerous Woman, Wicked, and Wicked: For Good — all missed the mark by just a single rung.

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Lose Out as Stray Kids Lead the Charge

Both Erivo and Grande are even more successful on the Top Album Sales chart, which ranks the bestselling full-lengths and EPs in the U.S. While Wicked: For Good arrives behind Do It by Stray Kids, the first Wicked opened in first place in December 2024.

Erivo doubles her total number of top 10 on the purchase-only tally, while Grande adds a ninth placement in that region, as is the case on the Billboard 200. The Grammy winner has claimed seven No. 1s on the Top Album Sales list, and only Dangerous Woman and the first Wicked album failed to run the show.

The Original Wicked Soundtrack’s Sales More Than Double

As Wicked: For Good launches in lofty slots, the first Wicked soundtrack mounts an impressive comeback. The set returns to the top 10 on both the Vinyl Albums and Top Album Sales charts and finds its way to the Top Streaming Albums list once more, while also nearing the uppermost tier on the Billboard 200. Sales of the first of the two soundtracks increases by more than 200% thanks to all the excitement surrounding the conclusion of the story.
