- Ape Beverages is launching a new product featuring BAYC.
- Bored Apes is popular among celebrities like Jimmy Fallon, Eminem, etc.
- This is yet another attempt by the creators of BAYC to monetize their presence in Web3.
Bored Apes Dives into “Ape Waters”
Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) has become a cultural phenomenon among the NFT enthusiasts. From average individuals to famous celebrities, the digital collectible has caught everyone’s eye. Recently an organization dubbed Ape beverages has announced their new product Ape Water. It will feature BAYC on the canned water.
Bored Apes remains the only collection to gain widespread popularity. Legendary rappers like Eminem and Snoop Dogg recently featured the Apes in their music video “From The D 2 LBC” and during their live performance on MTV Video Music Awards 2022.
The Ape Water is just another attempt by BAYC to monetize their presence in Web3 space. The company heavily relies on ecological aspects of canned water. But several experts have argued about the fact that canned water is equally disastrous like the plastic bottled water (except recyclable bottles).
Ape Beverages is not the first company to bring the idea of canned water to their customers. Liquid Death has already been done in 2019. So, these efforts by the firm indicate democratization of IP rights in the Web3 space instead of doing something towards the environment.
Yuga Labs, the brains behind the Bored Apes, has made several attempts to monetize their presence in Web3. Seth Green, an actor, created a TV series based on his Ape NFTs. But the actor got exploited when hackers stole his tokens, and he had to pay 300,000 USD to get them back.
Bored and Hungry, a restaurant featuring Bored Apes was launched in California this year. The restaurant made headlines after they stopped accepting crypto assets for a certain timeframe. An eatery based on digital assets is not accepting digital assets, strange right?
It appears like people and organizations are fascinated by the Bored Apes and the upcoming release of Otherside metaverse may put a boost in their popularity. The virtual world will open windows for everyone to mark their presence among the community. Celebrities can perform digital concerts in this realm.
Celebrities like Justin Beiber and Travis Scott have already performed in Fortnite. It is possible that we will see the Dogg Father or the Rap God spread their magic in the Otherside Metaverse.
