Ansu Fati’s agent Jorge Mendes has advised the youngster to leave FC Barcelona, according to reports.
The Portuguese representative of a string of top players including Cristiano Ronaldo arrived in the Catalan capital on Wednesday.
At the top of his agenda was discussing a contract renewal for breakthrough left back Alejandro Balde, who has usurped Jordi Alba from the starting line-up save for matches when the opposition enforces a low block as seen in 3-0’s thrashing of Sevilla.
Also of great interest to Mendes, however, who has Valencia loanee Nico Gonzalez on his books too, is the future of Ansu Fati.
Like Balde, Fati broke through to the first team from the La Masia academy in 2019. And though he smashed a number of youngest goal scorer and appearance maker records and was even given Lionel Messi’s number ’10’ shirt alongside a bumper new contract until 2027, the 20-year-old is currently struggling for form and minutes in Xavi Hernandez’s side.
According to COPE via SPORT, Mendes has told Fati to consider leaving his boyhood club this summer, with part of Fati’s entourage aware that a change of scenery could be positive for the Spain international.
It is believed by some that Barca are trying to force Fati out of the club through the leak of rumors linking him to the likes of Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
Ahead of the Sevilla match, Xavi poured cold water on such reports by insisting that his winger is not on the market.
Yet the fact that Barca have to eliminate €200mn ($214mn) from their wage bill ahead of the next season means they have to make a big player sale.
Fati is said to have interest from the Premier
While Barca would fare better offloading other players such as Ferran Torres and Eric Garcia first and foremost, they should perhaps entertain offers for Fati if the player’s camp convinces him that his future does indeed lie out of Camp Nou.
