In June 2021, the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) was all over the Twitter threads for the wrong reasons. BAYC was accused of some serious racism charges against the NFT collectible. The story started with a Youtube video titled ‘Bored Ape Nazi Club’. A famous Youtuber provided evidence presented from Ryder Ripps.
Earlier in January, Ripps posted extensive set of evidence on Twitter about the BAYC containing racist’ dog whistles, white supremacist signifiers, and arcane racism. He summarized in a nutshell saying the Bored Ape Yacht Club conceals racism via various modes including iconography, alt-right memes, and different codes.
Following several allegations, an infamous hacker group ‘Anonymous’ promised to investigate the claims on Bored Ape Club tying with Nazi symbolism. The Anonymous said in one of their videos, BAYC is subjected to multiple heinous accusations intending to an investigation.
Anonymous on a Hunt for Bored Ape
In a recent video from Anonymous the hacker group showed concerns about the recent allegations on the Bored Ape Club. Anonymous finally revealed its intent to dive in the Bored Ape Yacht club investigating the claims. The group also revealed that the process may take months however, they will be providing a periodical report.
However, some of the commentators and Twitter users have expressed a doubt on the authenticity of the video. Users are drawing similarities between Ryder Ripps’ video on the Bored Ape documentary. No one really knows if the video is authentic or not as of now.
However, if hacker group ‘Anonymous’ steps in the picture, it will be hell of a show for NFT enthusiasts and users following the crypto market. The Bored Ape Yacht Club is now under the spotlight from fans across the globe.
