Topline
Anna Sorokin, the fake German heiress better known as Anna Delvey who was convicted of theft and larceny in 2019, is being deported Monday to Germany after spending roughly one year in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody, two sources told Insider.
Key Facts
An attorney for Sorokin told Insider she was scheduled to leave her upstate New York prison around 2 p.m. EST Monday and be put on a plane to Germany.
After being released from prison in February 2021, Sorokin was detained and put into ICE custody for overstaying her visa, which she has been appealing.
In February, Sorokin’s appeals to remain in the U.S. were denied by the US Justice Department Board of Immigration Appeals, according to Insider.
Manny Arora, a lawyer representing Sorokin, told Insider that his client is within a 30-day period in which she can appeal the decision, it is “not legally appropriate” for her to be deported before March 17 and that there may be a paperwork error, but “in the end, [ICE]
can do whatever they want.”
Forbes has reached out to Sorokin for comment.
This is a developing story.
