Animoca Brand Japan and KDDI collaborate to boost Web3 usage

Animoca Brands Japan and KDDI Corporation established an exclusive partnership to accelerate the widespread adoption of Web3. Concurrently, an association is established between Mocaverse and αU (AlphaU). Animoca Brands and KDDI aim to provide enhanced interoperable visibility specifically for Web3 enthusiasts who are interested in engaging in Web3 entertainment and activities.

Incorporating Moca ID, an on-chain decentralized identifier (DID) of the Mocaverse, with the αU wallet is an initial objective of the collaboration. Users of the αU wallet will be able to interact with Web3 content such as amusement, games, and culture within the Mocaverse ecosystem.

Additionally, associations between the Web3 content and intellectual property (IP) owned by αU and Animoca Brands will be strengthened. On the NFT marketplace αU market, NFTs for the Web3 game PHANTOM GALAXIES will be available for purchase.

Animoca Brands is a leading Web3 company that invests in a variety of industries, including blockchain-based video games, metaverses, decentralized finance, and wallets. Additionally, they develop their own Web3 ecosystem. Animoca Brands Japan is a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, an organization that finances the global expansion of Japanese intellectual property in the Web3 sector.

Mocaverse was Animoca Brands’ inaugural membership initiative and featured a framework layer composed of Account Identity, Reputation, and PointFi mechanisms. To facilitate the transition between the real and virtual worlds for the next generation of users and realize a world in which anyone can become a creator, KDDI introduced the Web3 service αU and the metaverse in March 2023.

The association with Animoca Brands will make it possible, according to Shunpei Tatebayashi, general manager at KDDI Corporation, for content to play a significant role in Web3 acceptance.

Kensuke Amo, chief operating officer of Animoca Brands, states that the partnership with KDDI will serve as an intermediary between Japan and the global Web3 community.

According to Mocaverse’s Project Lead, Kenneth Shek, the partnership with KDDI will allow them to investigate potential solutions for integrating a substantial number of Japanese retail consumers onto Web3.
