Adidas Golf has long been creative with its limited-edition golf shoe tie-ins. And with the eyes of the golf world shifting to Augusta, Georgia, this week for the annual Masters Tournament, what better time than to pair with a Georgia staple: Waffle House.
There are almost 2,000 Waffle House restaurants in the U.S., over 400 of which are in the company’s home state of Georgia. Of those, 14 are in the town of Augusta, including two on Washington Road, just down from the entrance to Augusta National Golf Club.
“We love this time of year because more than anything else it’s an unofficial start to the golf season for everyone,” said Masun Denison, global footwear director, adidas Golf. “Waffle House is such a well-known restaurant in Georgia and throughout the U.S., we knew it would be fun to partner with their team on a design that brings a piece of the famous restaurant to everyone, all in our flagship silhouette.”
The end result is the TOUR360 22 Waffle House edition, with an off-white “batter-like” colorway and an unmistakable waffle pattern — both on the leather waterproof upper and on the brand’s signature 3 stripes on the side of the shoe. The transparent sole is designed to look like it has a generous syrup pour and, if that weren’t enough, the familiar Waffle House logo is prominent on the heel.
Unlike the traditional “scattered, smothered, covered, chunked” lingo at Waffle House, this is a very limited menu item. The TOUR360 22 Waffle House edition goes on sale April 7 at adidas’s website, on the adidas app and at select U.S. retailers, and will even be served up in a box designed to look like a Waffle House restaurant.
