Academy Sports & Outdoors Promotes Matt McCabe To EVP And CMM

The reorganization is complete at Academy Sports & Outdoors (ASO). Matt McCabe has been promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer succeeding Steve Lawrence who was promoted to Chief Executive Officer of the company.

Mr. McCabe was senior vice-president and GMM of Footwear since September 2017. He joined ASO in December 2016 as VP for Athletic and Licensed Apparel. Prior to that he served a VP at Goldsmith International where he led the apparel. footwear and soft consumables buying and private brand business. He also held various leadership roles at Bon Ton Department Stores, Bachrach, Sears Roebuck & Co., and Marc Shale. Matt earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Miami University.

He has been instrumental in growing the footwear category during his tenure as GMM with the addition of several new brands such as Hey Dude and Birkenstock along with an improved shopping experience both in-store and on-line.
