AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” reaches 100 weeks on the Billboard Global 200, becoming the band’s first hit … More
Of the 200 tracks that appear on the Billboard Global 200, the chart company’s ranking of the biggest songs throughout the world, only about one-fifth have racked up stays that include triple digits. The tally typically features a healthy blend of both brand new smashes from musicians around the globe as well as a number of classics that generate significant activity worldwide.
AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” often ranks among the decades-old tunes that listeners just can’t get enough of. As of this frame, the rock smash is now counted among that lucky current 20-something percent.
“Thunderstruck” Hits a Big Milestone
“Thunderstruck” has now been found on the Billboard Global 200 for one hundred frames. The track reaches the triple-digit milestone on the tally, which blends sales and streaming data to show what people everywhere are listening to, decades after its release, and nearly five years after Billboard introduced the rosters. At the moment, it settles at No. 141, up slightly from just a few days ago.
AC/DC has sent five singles to the Billboard Global 200, and none of the other four have even managed 10 stays. “Back in Black” remains the group’s second-longest running win, with just half a dozen turns on the roster to its credit.
The Song Climbs on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S.
“Thunderstruck” can also be found on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., the partner list to the Billboard Global 200, which doesn’t factor in streams or sales from American listeners. On that tally, AC/DC’s cut jumps more than 20 spaces to No. 169, returning to its all-time peak.
Unlike its performance on the Billboard Global 200, however, “Thunderstruck” is nowhere near 100 weeks on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. It has now only appeared on that roster for 15 weeks.
AC/DC’s Lone Global Smash at the Moment
“Thunderstruck” is AC/DC’s only hit on either global ranking at the moment. It makes sense, then, that it’s also the group’s biggest smash in America this week. “Thunderstruck” lives in the runner-up spot on both the Hard Rock Streaming Songs and Hard Rock Digital Song Sales charts. The cut also returns to the top 10 on the Rock Digital Song Sales tally, vaulting from No. 14 to No. 9.
