AC/DC’s Back in Black and hit single “Thunderstruck” reenter the Billboard charts, proving the … More
AC/DC is back on the Billboard charts this week — not with new music, but thanks to the continued appeal of some of the band’s biggest successes. This frame, the band returns to multiple rankings, with both a classic single and one of the most successful albums in U.S. history, which both manage to reappear on one tally apiece thanks to nonstop listening from rams, both in America and all around the world.
Back in Black Returns to the Billboard 200
AC/DC returns to the Billboard 200 this week, as Back in Black reappears on the tally that ranks the most-consumed albums in the U.S. Combining traditional sales and streaming data, the list paints a picture of what Americans are actually listening to, and this frame, that includes one of the hard rock genre’s all-time greatest efforts.
Back in Black lands at No. 195 on the Billboard 200, sneaking back onto the chart by a small margin. According to Luminate, the project moved nearly 8,300 equivalent units in the latest tracking frame. More than 1,700 of those were pure sales.
AC/DC’s Bestselling Album Climbs
As Back in Black returns to the Billboard 200, it also moves upward on two additional tallies. That shift suggests that not only are Americans still listening, but that interest in the record is actually growing at the moment.
This week, the title jumps three spaces to No. 13 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart, nearing the top 10 on a ranking it’s frequented for years. Over on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums list, it improves by five spots to settle at No. 44.
“Thunderstruck” is a Global Hit Again
AC/DC’s chart return isn’t limited to full-lengths. One of the band’s most familiar tracks, “Thunderstruck,” finds its way back to the Billboard Global 200 this week, reentering at No. 189. That global ranking combines streaming and sales data from around the world, and “Thunderstruck” has been hopping on and off the list for well over a year now.
In the U.S., the same track appears on three separate Billboard charts this frame. “Thunderstruck” keeps at No. 3 on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart and drops just slightly to No. 7 on the Rock Digital Song Sales list. At the same time, it also climbs two spaces to No. 6 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs tally.
AC/DC’s Streaming Wins Includes Two Smashes
“Thunderstruck” isn’t the only AC/DC track streaming well in the U.S. right now. On the Hard Rock Streaming Songs list, the band occupies a pair of spots. As “Thunderstruck” jumps to No. 6, “Back in Black” manages a quieter move, lifting one spot to No. 23.
