Protesters gathered at more than 300 events across the U.S. on Saturday, including in Washington, D.C., New York City and Houston, to demand access to abortion after a leaked draft opinion from the Supreme Court showed a majority of the court agreeing to overturn the 1973 Roe v. Key Facts
The protests are taking place less than two weeks after Politico leaked a draft opinion by Justice Samuel Alito that states that “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start.”
More than a dozen states have laws in place to almost immediately ban abortion if the court overturns Roe v. Wade, and the majority of the bans also make performing the procedure a felony.
