This band continues to mature and grow in the reach of its music and the scope of their ambition. In conversation with them: Zachary Charles, Nathan Esquite and David Labuguen, you see the maturity and progression as the band builds upon its catalogue and broadens its reach.

A R I Z O N A is not just a studio band. They are best experienced in the wild, surrounded by others in a community of fans drinking in the sound and light show. Nothing enhances the enjoyment of music more than the energy of the crowd all reacting together in real time to what the band is doing onstage.

As you would expect, Zach, Nate and David are articulate and interesting in conversation. There are really two kinds of bands, those who are bonded together through friendship and the experience of continuous travel and performance, and those who live separate experiences on the same itinerary. A R I Z O N A shares their experience in a manner which suggests it is enhanced because of their interactions.

They are playful, both with each other and with their audience. This signals well to a crowd which can quickly suss out the vibes from the stage. People don’t just go to a concert to hear the music, they want to feel a part of the living breathing organism which is the gathered audience. It’s one thing to leave a show thinking you liked the music, quite another to leave feeling that you were part of a greater whole, the connection foster by music and completed by collective consent.

In this touring season when it seems that everyone is on the road there is the opportunity to spend a few hours with musicians who are engaged with their audiences while continuing to advance their musical ambitions. Those are the shows which are meaningful. Listen to the albums to embed their musical progressions, then get out and feel that music as the sound waves hit you at amplification. There is no greater source for dopamine than singing out loud with thousands of your newly found neighbors and friends. A R I Z O N A is on the road. Find them. Their new album was just released. Get it. They’re well worth the listen.
