As promised, the Love Is Blind live reunion had fans talking Sunday night. But the subject of the gab wasn’t the content of the special.
It was the fact that those fans couldn’t watch it.
Technical difficulties meant the show was delayed for all Netflix subscribers and, later that night, only available briefly for a lucky few. However, as of Monday afternoon, the streaming giant has finally made the full event available for all.
So, was it worth the wait? Check out the all these standout moments and decide.
Kwame rewrote history
Remember back in the pod-dating days, when Micah Lussier dumped Kwame Appiah in order to pursue her doomed romance with Paul Peden? And when she told Appiah, “I think we should explore other connections,” it left it devastated?
Well, that’s not exactly how he remembers it.
“At that point in time, when we broke up, we weren’t having as much fun in our dates anymore,” he told hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey. “So we both knew it was coming.”
He went so far as to say he wrote a breakup note to deliver to Lussier, but she simply beat him to the breakup.
Zach and Bliss’ dad get along now
While Bliss Poureetezadi’s mother embraced her future son-in-law, Zach Goytowski, during Season 4, Poureetezadi’s father didn’t feel the same—and the disappointed patriarch didn’t hide that from anyone. In the season finale, even as he walked his daughter down the aisle, Papa Poureetezadi whispered to her, “Never settle.”
But times have changed.
“I am happy to say he and Zach are best buds,” the bride announced.
Zach called out Irina
Before he found romance with his eventual wife, Goytowski popped the question to Irina Solomonova, who went on to treat him (and several others on the show) appallingly.
Solomonova apologized during the reunion, blamed much of behavior on her own feelings of panic and claimed that she really was on the series to find love. As for Goytowski, he didn’t buy a word of it.
“If we’re real,” he said, “you went on this show to get famous.”
Paul denied grabbing a bridesmaid’s butt
It’s the bridal suite clip viewers have replayed for weeks, and after thoroughly Zaprudering the footage, the popular opinion is that Peden, as Vanessa Lachey put it, tapped “a little bridesmaid’s tush” after breaking Lussier’s heart at the altar.
However, according to him, that never happened.
“To imply that was anything more than me gesturing, acknowledging that I was squeezing past her, kind of bumped into her shoulder, is literally absurd,” he noted. “Literally just walking out the door and gesturing, just like, ‘Hey sorry I bumped into you.”
Micah responded to Paul’s low blow
But even if he was innocent of that alleged offense, he can’t deny what he said after jilting Lussier. In a private moment with the camera, he confessed that he struggled with “envisioning Micah as a mother” and said she lacked a “nurturing” side.
Viewers learned that during the finale—and so did Lussier.
“I felt like it was the worst thing that could be said about me,” she wept. “It’s something I’ve talked about since the pods, how important having a family was to me. My mom wasn’t supposed to be able to have children. The fact that we even survived my birth was a miracle. I didn’t have any siblings. I didn’t have a big family. It’s something I’ve always wanted so bad.”
She went on to add she’d been upset with Paul during one of their dates, when he mentioned he might not want kids at all.
About Shelby…
Despite Peden’s own words (and alleged bridesmaid contact), he didn’t come off looking all that bad at the wedding that wasn’t—at least compared to someone else. That distinction when to Lussier’s BFF, who laughed, smiled and after seeing her pal get dumped, boasted that she had hoped for that outcome.
However, according to Lussier, there’s more to it.
“I think a lot of Shelby’s concern lied in the fact that things were moving too quickly,” she explained. “I mean, she didn’t know if it was going to work, and she didn’t want me to have my heart broken. In that way, I think she was right.”
She added, “I think she has a terrible delivery, which I understand. I do, too.”
Zach sang again
And it was even worse than last time.
Was Jackie just vindicated?
Going into the reunion, any Season 4 fan would have expected the Jackie Bonds, Marshall Glaze and Josh Demas love triangle to have dominated the event. But in the end, it was more of a side note. Bonds and Demas weren’t even in the studio to have face-to-face confrontations with the others.
Instead, they spoke to Vanessa Lachey via video before the event. It was during that chat that Bonds, who now lives with Demas, once again declared that she didn’t cheat on Glaze, despite the narrative shown on the series.
She insisted she broke up with him before giving Demas a chance at a romance.
After rolling that interview clip, Lachey asked Glaze if what Bonds said was true, and his answer seemed to confirm it.
“It doesn’t matter if it was before or a day after,” he said defensively. “It’s still like you’re kissing a new dude immediately after you just broke up with somebody.”
Baby talk
It’s one thing to race to the altar, but the hosts seem to want the couples to follow it up by racing to the crib, too.
“I need to know who’s going to give me our first Love Is Blind baby,” Vanessa Lachey demanded. “I’m not going to ask if you’re trying. Obviously that’s TMI.”
To which her husband added, “I hope you’re all trying.”
While several thoughtful answers were offered up, it was a qucik quip from Brett Brown, one half of Season 4’s perfect couple, alongside Tiffany Pennywell, that proved to be the best response.
“Jesus. Y’all really put on the baby pressure,” he said.
