71 Of The Hottest New Hotel Openings Around The World This Summer

A sizzling summer continues with the rebound from eager-to-travel passengers refueling airlines, hotels and cruise lines along the way. The incredible demand for the hospitality industry is also an encouraging sign for the dozens of new hotels opening around the world. For many, forward bookings are strong, and new hotel inventory is sparking even more interest to travel near and far.

These are just some of the newest hotels to open between June 1 and August 31 ready and waiting to welcome their first guests as people plan that long-awaited summer vacation and beyond.

East Coast

At the end of August, the new AKA West Palm will open in downtown West Palm Beach as a luxury residential building with six floors within walking distance of local shopping and dining. Its studio and one or two-bedroom accommodations can be booked as hotel rooms or as long-stay residences.

One of Marriott Bonvoy’s many brands has arrived in Clearwater Beach, Florida with last month’s opening of the AC Hotel Clearwater Beach. With a rooftop lounge, European-inspired design and the option to earn Marriott loyalty points, this will become a popular option close to the beach.

The South Carolina state capital welcomed a new downtown hotel last month with the opening of Cambria Hotel Columbia Downtown The Vista. It is within the city’s growing arts and entertainment district and within walking distance of the State House and Columbia Museum of Art.

The nation’s Old Post Office is now the glamorous Waldorf Astoria Washington, D.C. With some of the largest rooms in the city and a 10,000 sq ft spa, this Hilton Honors-participating property will draw a lot of fans. The hotel also has the Michelin-starred Sushi Nakazawa restaurant and the Waldorf Astoria signature, Peacock Alley, serving craft cocktails in the lobby.

Hyatt Place Virginia Beach/Oceanfront opened last month with beachfront access and private balconies overlooking the water. Vacationing families will appreciate that rooms come with sofa beds, and the panoramic tenth floor patio is ideal for watching the sunrise.

Wyndham Destinations’ new Club Wyndham Atlanta Resort opened in June and towers 22 floors above Centennial Park. Visitors can explore the vibrant downtown core while earning or redeeming Wyndham Rewards points during their stay. Each of the 200 suites has a full kitchen, and many add laundry facilities making them popular with families. The rooftop bar and pool are part of the dual-branded experience with the upscale Club Wyndham and casual luxury at Margaritaville Vacation Club.

Nashville-bound Hilton Honors fans will be pleased to discover the August opening of Hotel Fraye, a Curio Collection by Hilton property. The 200-room hotel will have a rooftop bar and lounge, all-day dining options, and an outdoor pool and patio area.

That’s not all. Conrad Nashville opened last month as part of the Broadwest mixed-use development. It has three restaurant and lounge options plus guest rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city. This luxury Hilton Honors brand will also court large gatherings to its 17,000 sq ft of event space.

As the first property in Hyatt’s new Caption by Hyatt brand, Caption by Hyatt Beale Street Memphis opened last month in the heart of Beale Street. The property has a coffee shop and cocktail bar, grab-and-go marketplace and the option for mobile-order food service. Eco-conscious travelers will appreciate that this new Hyatt brand does not use single-use plastics and has hydration stations on every floor.

Dollywood, in eastern Tennessee, now has a “Suite 1986” Tour Bus Experience,” where guests can spend the night on Dolly Parton’s tour bus for 15 years. Launched this summer, the premium suite accommodation is part of Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort and Spa and one of the more unusual new places you can stay this year.

With a focus on supporting local businesses, Selina Union Market opened in Washington, D.C. Notable is the variety of room types ranging from standard rooms to lofts, micro-accommodations and dorm-style options. Local artwork fills the property including a colorful, four-story custom mural sure to draw attention.

In White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, the area’s first boutique hotel opened last month in a historic 1912-built high school. All rooms at The Schoolhouse Hotel feature electronic bathroom doors, accessible food and beverage areas, and a conference center designed to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards in every room. There’s also a synthetic grass area for guide animals and app using American Sign Language to communicate with staff.

Northeast

The Unbound Collection by Hyatt will have a new property member in New York City when The Grayson opens next month. Guests will be in the heart of midtown not far from 5th Avenue, Bryant Park, the Empire State Building and Times Square. Among the hotel’s food and beverage options are an outdoor Mexican taqueria and panoramic, rooftop mezcal bar and lounge.

In Tribeca, Hotel Barrière Fouquet’s New York is planning a soft opening next month bringing the flair and panache of the family-run Groupe Barriere brand to the U.S. with its first hotel. Visitors will find a screening room, deluxe spa and of course, a branch of the world-famous French brasserie Fouquet’s.

By August, the Wylder Windham will have all seven of its lodges open in the Catskills of New York. In addition to an outdoor heated pool and plentiful event space, there’s an outdoor lawn with fire pits, lawn games, hammocks, tree swings and regular entertainment.

In the Great Northern Catskills, Lark Hotels is opening the Bluebird Hunter Lodge in a 1970s Hunter Mountain ski lodge. During the winter months, there will be skiing and snow tubing while in warmer months, visitors can enjoy outdoor activities that include hiking and zip lining. The company also opened a property in Cape Cod last month, Bluebird Dennisport. Located on Nantucket Sound, it is convenient to area beaches.

The Grand Adirondack Hotel, Lake Placid, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel opens next month as part of Marriott Bonvoy’s growing Tribute Portfolio brand. The New York hotel has 88 rooms, four suites and a rooftop bar.

In Nantucket, Salt House Nantucket opened as a seasonal pop-up for the summer ahead of its full opening in 2023. Housed in a 17th century replica building, the bed and breakfast features bikes for exploring the island, lawn games, a fire pit and an outdoor bar and lounge.

In the heart of Newport, Rhode Island, is this month’s opening of Chart House Inn. Dating back to 1880, the historic inn features seven rooms and suites as well as a dining room for breakfast and afternoon tea.

Cambria Hotel Portland Downtown Old Port will open next month as part of Choice Hotels’ upscale Cambria brand. Known for its design detail with local inspiration, Cambria properties also surprise with their top food and beverage options. This property will have a panoramic rooftop serving cocktails and local craft beer among other things.

W Toronto opens mid-summer in the fashionable Yorkville neighborhood bringing its music and design focus to the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio in town. The hotel has its own recording studio where guests can test out their musical talents as well as a DJ booth with evening entertainment in the lobby.

Midwest and Central States

With unobstructed views of the Mississippi River, the 222-room Four Seasons Hotel Minneapolis opened last month. The modern high-rise has the city’s largest pool terrace, an indoor pool, 16,000 sq ft of event space and a community-focused staff that has committed to donating 3,500 hours each year to local initiatives. The property also has done away with single-use plastics and launched a strong energy, water and waste reduction program.

Next month, Tuscaloosa, Alabama welcomes The Alamite, Tuscaloosa, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel and part of the Marriott Bonvoy program. A few blocks from Tuscaloosa Amphitheater, Riverwalk and Bama Theatre (and a short drive from the football stadium), this new hotel has a library-themed lobby, prep school-designed staff uniforms and several rooms highlighting well-known locals.

Origin Austin opened last month as the first for the pet-friendly Origin Hotels brand, which is part of the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program. Its Capitol Suite has an outdoor terrace overlooking the city’s skyline. The all-day dining option serves tasty dishes like chicken ‘n waffle kabobs and not-so-chicken-fried rib eye. It even has a dedicated menu for canine diners.

The Loren at Lady Bird Lake will open next month in Austin as the first U.S. property for the hotel group. It will feature a rooftop pool and restaurant, full-service spa and fitness activities like kayaking and paddle boarding on Lady Bird Lake.

Pacific Coast and Mountain West

Downtown Calgary will welcome a new Autograph Collection property this summer with the July opening of The Dorian. The hotel’s muse, Oscar Wilde, inspires the interior decor through words and “whimsical and playful discoveries” throughout the hotel.

The new AC Hotel Vancouver Waterfront opened in June close to the Columbia River. Guests can earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points during their stay.

Medford, Oregon has a new hotel with some island style. Compass Hotel by Margaritaville delivers the Jimmy Buffett experience of the brand’s other hotels to the west coast. The hotel offers complimentary breakfast and dining at its 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill.

With 16 rooms, Villa Mara Carmel offers a residential experience in Carmel-By-The-Sea just 300 feet from Carmel Beach. Le Labo toiletries, complimentary minibars and a suite with private outdoor fire pit and soaking tub are sure to appeal to relaxation seekers at this new Leading Hotels of the World member. Guests that join the Leaders Club loyalty program can enjoy complimentary breakfast during their stay.

The Richland in Orange County will debut a dozen rooms this August as a new boutique hotel and event space. Within historic Orange Plaza, the historic building is the first hotel venture from 24 Carrots Catering & Events.

1 Hotel San Francisco opened last month in San Francisco bringing its eco-friendly and sustainable operation to the Bay Area. The lobby floors use reclaimed wood salvaged from historic barns and industrial buildings while native area greenery fills some of the public areas. Guests also have access to an electric Audi vehicle to get them around the area, or even test drive during their stay.

Another new San Francisco opening last month was LUMA Hotel San Francisco, which is the first hotel development in Mission Bay. A local visual artist helped design many of the large-scale art installations in the hotel.

Atwell Suites is continuing its brand expansion with its second property opening, Atwell Suites Denver Airport – Tower Road. This is the IHG brand’s prototype property with a duplex lobby and 96 studio suites, some of which overlook the neighboring Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge.

Vīb Hotel by Best Western Denver RiNo, part of the Best Western Rewards program, opened last month downtown with a rooftop restaurant and bar as well as lobby-level fireplace lounge. Many will appreciate its easy proximity to the train line that goes directly to the airport.

Europe

Menorca, Spain welcomes Villa Le Blanc by Gran Meliá opening this month. The resort has exceptional water views and rooms with furnished balconies. The swim-up suite is sure to be especially popular.

Another Spanish property to open in the Balearic Islands is Kimpton Aysla Mallorca with 79 rooms situated around the island’s traditional patios. It has two outdoor pools (including an area for families) as well as rooms with balconies and free access to the spa facilities. Guests can earn and redeem IHG Rewards One points during their stay.

The Balearic Islands of Spain is on a roll this year. Not only did it welcome new nonstop flights from the U.S. via United Airlines, but also plenty of new hotels. Hilton Mallorca Galatzo opens this month featuring both local architecture and restaurant menus. Each room has its own balcony overlooking the lush greenery of the hotel. From swimming and spa to biking or hiking Galatzo Mountain, the resort offers lots of activities for vacationers.

With two Michelin stars under his belt, Chef Christophe Hay is trying his hand at another form of hospitality with the recent opening of Fleur de Loire in Blois, France. The brother of King Louis XIII designed the 17th century building housing this boutique hotel, which has a Sisley-branded spa and a dining room featuring Hay’s own culinary masterpieces using ingredients from local farmers.

Hilton’s Curio Collection brand is on a roll in Europe with almost 50 hotels open or under development. One of the newest to open is Lost Property St. Paul’s London, Curio Collection by Hilton, which is nearly 300 feet from St. Paul’s Cathedral. When it opens this month, it expects to welcome tourists as well as business travelers thanks to its proximity to numerous corporate offices.

The Other House opens this month in London’s South Kensington neighborhood. Part hotel, part private rental space and part residence club, the property can host stays of any length with all the requisite hotel amenities.

Edinburgh, Scotland has a new Leading Hotels of the World hotel with the recent opening of Gleneagles Townhouse. Once the British Linen Company and then the Bank of Scotland, the St. Andrew Square hotel boasts regal decor. It is the sibling to The Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire, Scotland, which also belongs to The Leading Hotels of the World.

FIVE Zurich just opened in Switzerland’s largest city with seven dining and nightlife venues, indoor and outdoor pools, a full-service spa and 62 rooms. Expect a strong focus on music and entertainment with regular DJs and party-style events.

This August, Rosewood Vienna will become the fifth European hotel for the brand and join a growing number of luxury brands in the Austrian city. Situated in the old town, it will appeal to tourists looking for both history and culture at their doorstep.

In a former car garage, the new Hotel Indigo Vienna – Naschmarkt opens this month with botanical design elements alluding to the city’s Secret Gardens. To reach the hotel, guests walk through a covered tunnel to reach the lobby making it feel like a hidden garden. It is part of the growing IHG Rewards One program.

Taking the name of the patron saint of wine making (yes, there is a saint for wine making), Borgo San Vincenzo in Montepulciano, Italy opens this month. The 18th century building has 21 rooms and suites plus a wine cellar ideal for tastings or small events.

This month, 7Pines Resort Sardinia is expected to open as part of World of Hyatt’s Destination by Hyatt brand. Surrounded by a nature reserve and the sparkling beach, the resort will have three restaurants, three bars and a private beach club with pier. Guests can take a dip in the crystal blue water in one of four private coves or the resort’s two swimming pools.

Close to the Grand Park of Tirana and just outside the city center, Albania’s capital city has welcomed a new hotel. The Radisson Collection Morina Hotel, Tirana is part of a new development on Dry Lake with 48 rooms and suites.

In the southern Italian region of Puglia, Baglioni Masseria Muzza opened in June bordering the Adriatic Sea and in the heart of verdant olive groves. The main building dates back to the 17th century and is surrounded by five acres of countryside. Its 40 classical rooms and suites are in the former barns and stables ringing the central courtyard.

On the Greek island of Paros, Cosme, a Luxury Collection Resort, opened in June as part of Marriott Bonvoy’s growing portfolio of hotels in Greece. Its traditional white-washed buildings and open-air patios overlooking the Mediterranean are sure to entrance travelers looking for outdoor spaces this summer.

Nobu Hospitality’s first hotel in Greece, Nobu Santorini, opens this month with 25 rooms and suites and the first Nobu restaurant in the country. A dual-level pool with unending views is sure to be a hit.

Also on Santorini, Sea Breeze Santorini Beach Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton opened last month. With only 37 rooms, the hotel wows guests with direct access to a volcanic black sand beach and rooms that come with both a private terrace and either plunge pool or whirlpool.

Radisson Blu Euphoria Resort, Mykonos opened last month with only 34 rooms located on a cliffside overlooking the Aegean Sea. Its white-washed walls and architecture are symbolic of the local Cycladic design. Guests here are not far from the action-packed Livadi Beach with its numerous restaurants and bars.

Cali Mykonos opens this month in one of the most secluded spots on the eastern end of the famous Greek island. Each of the villas enjoys a private pool and seaview patio. The resort also has an infinity-edge pool overlooking the water that is more than twice the size of the average Olympic-sized pool.

Middle East and Africa

Le Royal Méridien Doha opened last month in the Lusail area of Doha in time for the busy summer season and this fall’s FIFA World Cup soccer games. The luxe hotel is connected to the palatial Place Vendôme Mall (the shopping center even has air conditioned outdoor areas given the desert heat). The Marriott Bonvoy hotel is home to two Michelin-starred restaurants.

In the Ar Rabi neighborhood of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the new Mansard Riyadh, A Radisson Collection Hotel opened last month. It is part of the upscale Radisson Collection brand that has a growing number of luxury properties around the world. Designed in Parisian Haussmann style, the Riyadh hotel is close to shopping, dining and the King Abdullah Financial District.

This month, Jumeirah Muscat Bay opens as the first property for the Jumeirah brand in Oman. The resort is a 15-minute drive from Muscat and situated between the Hajar mountains and the Gulf of Oman. In addition to 206 oceanview rooms and suites, there are also five secluded summer houses and a Sanctuary Villa offering maximum privacy.

In June, Natural Selection opened Duke’s Camp in northern Okavango Delta of Botswana. More than half of the safari tented property is crafted from recycled and “upcycled” materials. Each has its own ensuite bathroom and private viewing deck.

Not far, the six-bed Great Plains Okavango Explorers Camp also opens in Botswana this month within the private Selinda Reserve. The camp specializes in a 1920s safari experience in a region well-known for its abundant wildlife.

Radisson Blu Hotel, Durban Umhlanga in South Africa opened last month just a short walk from the Indian Ocean and a 20-minute drive from the international airport. The hotel serves business traveler needs, but also offers a pool, sun deck and kids club.

Asia-Pacific

In August, the Avani Chaweng Samui Hotel & Beach Club will open in Koh Samui, Thailand with mid-century design meant to recall the glamor of 1950s Miami Beach. Guests will have direct access to one of the area’s hottest beach clubs, SEEN Beach Club Samui.

The first Vignette Collection hotel (a new IHG brand) to open in Asia is the 393-room Sindhorn Midtown in Bangkok. It features a panoramic rooftop pool, four restaurants and bars (including a collaboration with Saneh Jaan, five-time Michelin-star restaurant) and a Thai whiskey bar.

To the northeast of Bangkok, architect and interior designer Bill Bensley has put his finishing touches on the new InterContinental Khao Yai Resort, set to open in August. In addition to traditional rooms and suites, there will be 19 “upcycled heritage railcar suites and villas” that take their inspiration from the region’s historic railway system.

In New South Wales, the QT Newcastle opened last month in a historic building just two hours north of Sydney. Its rooftop bar has panoramic views of the harbor and a menu of izakaya-style light bites.

A long-awaited opening for Australia’s Gold Coast is the new Langham Gold Coast, which opened its doors last month. This is the first new development with direct beach access to open in the area in nearly three decades. In addition to swanky dining and luxurious guest rooms, the hotel has a pool with swim-up bar and infinity edge that seems to dip into the Pacific Ocean.

Steve Irwin’s family is honoring his love for animals with the new Crocodile Hunter Lodge, which opened last month at the Australia Zoo where his family still lives and works. Located along Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, the lodge’s cabins are made from repurposed wood taken from the famous crocodile viewing grandstands. Nearly 3,000 trees and shrubs have been planted around the grounds acting as a natural wildlife corridor for various animals. Guests will spot the endangered glossy black cockatoo, emus, koalas and red kangaroos during their stay.

Mexico, Caribbean and South America

This month, Royal Palm Galapagos, Curio Collection by Hilton on Santa Cruz Island will open as one of the first international brand names near Galapagos National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Guests can earn and redeem Hilton Honors points while staying in one of nearly two dozen hacienda-style villas and rooms. Coming soon is a swimming pool and spa. Especially exciting is the opportunity to dine in one of the property’s lava tunnels 60 feet underground.

Visitors to Bolivia now have another Marriott Bonvoy choice since last month’s opening of Los Tajibos, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel. The property has a resort atmosphere with an outdoor pool and spa.

Making its Dutch Caribbean debut, Sandals Royal Curaçao opened last month with its traditional, all-inclusive offering. The brand also launched its first-ever, off-site dining program allowing guests to enjoy their all-inclusive benefits at eight restaurants around the island. This in addition to 11 restaurants and food trucks and 13 bars dotted around the resort.

Casa Palanco in Mexico City opened last month as part of The Leading Hotels of the World and its generous Leaders Club program. All members are treated to free breakfast when they book directly. The hotel dates back to the 1940s when it was originally built as a private residence for some of the capital’s most prominent families.

Another IHG brand that is continuing to expand is avid hotels. Its newest hotel, avid hotel Tijuana Otay, in Mexico. The hotel is ten minutes from the international airport and near corporate and industrial parks making it ideal for business travelers. It is one of the many new hotels to open as part of the IHG Rewards one program around the world.
